Is this possible? I'm currently at chapter 2 and I'd like to start HOF without starting over.

    Thanks!

Just change the difficulty setting to HoF, reload your game and it should work.
But don't think you can handle the HoF monsters easily.

Know that if you safe a game with insane turned on, it's insane forever, there is no possibility turning the rules back to default.

^I think you mean when you can turn on HoF, you can not turn in back to normal. You can change difficulty any time from insane to very easy when you are playing non-HoF game.

I don't care if it permenantly makes it an HoF game. My problem is just the opposite. I CAN'T make it an HoF game. I set it in configuration, load the game and I can move the slider back and forth, it seems to be on insane.

You are probably already playing HoF mode.
If you don't play HoF mode you are able to move the slider.
You can start a fight to test if you are already in HoF mode.

Maybe you don't know how to enable HoF mode ?
HoF mode and insane difficulty are different.
Are you able to start a HoF game ?
If you are playing HoF a level1-3 party gets 3,600 XP for killing a goblin.

I know how to start an HoF game. Go into confuguration utility, set it to HoF. This sets a NEW game to HoF, but not my current game. After doing this, I load my current game and it's set on insane.

My current characters are around level 14, so I think I can handle HoF, if I can just get it turned on.

I'm positive that you can't convert your current game to Heart of Fury, it's new game feature only.

In IWD1 converting a game wasn't that problematic.

    You can try the following:
    - export your characters
    - start a new HoFgame and reimport your characters
    - use the cheatconsole to teleport into a chapter2 area

You can also try moving your saves around or renaming them.

Maybe changing difficulty works with another (unpatched) version.

BTW: How did you reach level14 in chapter 2 ? Abused some game mechanics ?
If you play a regular way the game should provide the requested difficulty even without HoF mode.
