Looks like that file is corrupted, or your disc is scratched there, or you've got a bad illegal copy... something along those lines.

There are a few things to try listed here: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/IWD2/technical_faq.php#3

But if your disc is bad, getting a replacement is the only sensible solution.

This game is pretty old so I wouldn't doubt it if it was scratched.

Well, uh, did you take the CD out and look for any serious scratches? Try copying it whole to your HD.

Didn't get a chance until now... and from the looks of it I don't really see any serious scratches.... just a couple of small ones barely noticeable... is there anything else that could be wrong with it?

GAH!! I just tried copying it and disc 1 copied fine it was when we tried to copy disc 2 that we ran into the problems.... (sorry if the pictures are always a bit blurry but I have to make then jpg to upload them) http://hometown.aol.com/dexter156/CopyError.html

(for those of you who can't see the filename is ANMDemn.bif) So if only I could get this file somewhere...

It's not the compression, it's the contraction of the image that's the problem... I can hardly make any text out. Anyway, yes, getting that one file would fix it if you then ran an install from both CDs from the hard drive, but I'd rather just get a new CD, it'd be much less hassle.
