Barud asked to clear the area of monsters. I did. All of the Hooks are dead, as far as I can tell, the ice trolls, the shambling mound and the slimes too. I even cleared the Hulks and the Beastmaster in the next area. Barud still doesn't consider the area cleared. I could move on but it annoys me that there's some monster left on the map. Any help appreciated.

    Thanks.

Did you get all of the fire beetles in the room next to the Hook-Hatchery? They seem to multiply for a few minutes once you open the door. Maybe one slipped by you, they move pretty quickly.

There is some glitch in the scripting that results in the game not flagging this quest complete on occassion. It usually works correctly, but a number of people have had the problem you noticed.

There are workarounds for it using the console that have been discussed in other threads on this forum and on the BIS troubleshooting forum. Unfortunately, I don't have a link for you but you can probably find them by looking around.

Or you can take Kovsky's advice and replay the area and see if it works out right that time. Fortunately, I've never had a problem with it, so I'm all that familiar with the causes.

Thanks for the info. At least I am not going crazy ;) . I redid it but still no go. Is there anything perchance that must be done to destroy the hook hatchery^

Nope. If it works right, when the last critter dies, you get a message saying "you have cleared the caves" or something to that effect.

I urge you to find the thread that tells you the fix for this bug. It's a lot easier to enter the console command than you might think, and your problem will be solved in seconds. I would hate to have to clear those caverns *twice*, especially if it still didn't work in the end! It's not "cheating" if it's just fixing a technical glitch...

Actually, Black Isle people stole the ****ing code from my post - they love to plagiate:

    anyway, the command is

    ctrlaltdelete:setglobal("AR5101_MONSTERS_DEAD","GLOBAL",1)

The word is "plagiarize" and I seriously doubt that the Devs at Black Isle didn't know what the appropriate global for this quest was without your help. *Maybe* seeing your post saved them a few minutes of checking the variables or maybe they looked it up independently. Either way, they are not stealing your words in a unlawful or unethical way. So give the attitude a rest, okay?

No thanks. If you are unwilling to share your reasons in public, you should be unwilling to share your attitude. It just makes you look bad, not them.
