Ok, I finished the game and want to play it in HoF but my char's all come in as lvl1 and with out there items. I was under the impression that you start hof where you left off at games end. Am I wrong? If not what am I doing wrong?

Yeah, that's not supposed to happen. When did you export your party? If you take the exports the computer *should* have made at the end of the game and import those you shouldn't have a prob.

Ok I exported my char's and it worked but said it would not save my bags of holding, scroll cases and potion bags. Anyway around this or do I just have to pick and choose what i will keep?

no. Bags of holding, scroll cases and potion bags are not kept. You will have to load up a saved game at the end of your first run through and take out into your inventory anything you want to keep. there's no way round it that I know of.

You could cheat the items you lost back. Thats the only way if all the items you take out of your bags dont fit in your inventory.

If it doesnt fit in your inventory of 6 chars, you must be some kind of collector to have your complete inventory full with items.. Id say : sell some stuff ;)

Sorry it's moot for you but someone else may browse through here and want to know, so:

Containers (gembags, scroll cases, bags of holding, etc.) each need two files to work. The first is the item file (extention .ITM) which controls what you see in your inventory. The second is an identically named store file (extension .STO) which actually holds your loot. The STO files are stored in the SAV file of your game, so you would need a program (DLTCP or, maybe, the newest version of NI) which can open the SAV file, extract the appropriate STO and save it to the override folder. So for the first bag of holding, the item file is called 00HBGA01.ITM and the store file is 00HBGA01.STO. Extract the STO file to override and then cheat the ITM into your new game. Open it and all the goodies from your previous game - at the time of extraction, anyway - will be in the bag for your new party.

WARNING: I have not tried either DLTCP or NI (NearInfinity) on store extraction for IWD2. The above procedure works perfectly for all my personal store modifications in BG, IWD and BG2 but nothing can be quaranteed for the latest version of the IE.
