Just as the topic says… it would utterly great fun if we could have our own guild inside ALFA. What say you?

ALFA doesn't allow player guilds. The only way you can have AORTA back is if a DM is willing to implement the faction on his/her server, but there is no way to get AORTA the way it was originally planned.

Umm, yes we do. Player guilds are allowed and even encouraged, but you should try to create them in-game, rather than on some message board.

Hm, player guilds may not be the right word though.. try character guilds.

Either way, I created a robber band on LW through the official boards.. we just all agreed to create a bunch of evil chars, log on at the same time, and then try to rp joining forces in a band of highwaymen. There was some whining from the slightly more hardcore section of alfa, but the fact of the matter is, no admin and no hdm was against it.

We even made our own secret forum where we could discuss guild business.. we made sure to give the Loudwater DMs access though.

The main issue with such guilds is the metagaming aspect. If the players are communicating extensively via outside message boards about in game activity, there is likely to be an issue with it. We had to lay some smack down on a couple character organizations for that reason.

But generally, there is no problem with characters forming groups, whether a party or a full fledged guild. However, we are not interested in seeing the sorts of player guilds that form in other games.

So a band of mercenaries would be fine...?

Yeah, just fine. Make an effort to form the band in-game first though, before resorting to out of game methods.

Any organization that is entirely *in game* is fine. Its only once you start with a lot of out of game communication that you might have problems, depending on the nature of said communications.
