Alright, I know I've made this request before with my previous manuscript submission. It screwed up, btw  (idiotic WOTC administration) but here I would like to thank those that have helped me previously once again.

Now, here's the project that has taken up so much of my time and caused me to neglect my other story topics: Son of Strife.

I've completed the first two parts out of a total of (I think) four parts of the initial saga of Shura the swordsman and would like to gather a few tips, opinions and whatnot from anyone who is interested.

Respond to this topic if you can spare some time to provide some guidance, please.I'd rather not use PM for convenience's sake. I'll mail you what I've done with Son of Strife if you want it.

For those that are familiar with the Shura stories, it's a complete rewriting of the 'Legend of Shura' that will be about three to four times the length of the original story and with the characters more fleshed out and developed. It also details the initial exploits of Shura and his companions. It is basically done in the tradition of an 'Epic' but with a bunch of irrevocably evil guys as the protagonists and good guys as the antagonists.

I'm not going to submit this for publishing until I've completed the entire story, though but I would certainly appreciate some pointers and tips now that I'm halfway through.

    Thanks for your time.

I think you have a problem with any publisher there, especially when it comes to "irrevocably", because a) a publisher might not deem it, well, "appropriate", and b) if you're irrevocably evil, well, that's so... predictable.

I haven't had the time lately to be reading much, and I don't read a lot of fantasy or internet fiction in the first place. Maybe someday I'll look up the stories, and read them.

Could you please send me your story? I know I won't be too much help(I am barely more intelligent than a gnat when it comes to this) but, dude, I love your stories! It would be a great read! So if you could please send to krazy_flea@hotmail.com. I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm running out of stuff to read...

    ezelloharshark@hotmail.com.

Preferably before November, as I have a grand (haha) writing project waiting then.

And yeah, I love your stories too.

Oaz, I would hardly call the original Legend of Shura predictable. The ending was quite brilliant IMO. Unlike many writers, Shura is not afraid to let his characters die for the good of the story.

My saying that the characters/stories were predictable was speculation upon Shura's own words. If I ever begin to read those stories, I'll decide for myself.

    beware... SPOILER (though rather little)

When you run out of money for the sold Shura books (may it be a looong time), you can still make some more adventures with Arkados,... Iirc they even slew a dragon?

Oh, and i agree... I like Shura being more or less neutral. Total evil is cool, but only for a short time. While neutral can still have both good and bad sides. Like a coin. It would lose one of the foundations of him. Besides, evil is easier... always. Succumb to your wishes and instincts.

    Eh, all babble :)

[IMG] @Gothmog: It's sent your way, too. Well. Arkados is as much of a main character as Shura in this.

Anyway, here's something I posted in another CS topic previously. It sums up the entire Son of Strife story very, very briefly and abstractedly.

    Son of Strife

A child’s hands grasped these blades
A boy’s will made them death
    Under dual arcs of steel
    A mortal fiend’s last breath
    Then
The man called Violence earned his name
    Reborn
    Countless lives he will steal

Across the land he wrought carnage
    Selling his skill
Warriors, rulers and beings of an ancient age
None of them could face Darkness’s rage
    And none he wouldn’t kill

    An ancient guardian’s
    Retributive test
    Drove the man named Violence
    Fleeing to the West

There he met the Demon’s son
Out of five he was one
    The Icy North ran free
    Silver blood a cascade
The Northern folk no longer to be

But still his bloodlust was not sated
He turned on those who thought they wielded
    The man named Violence
    A tyrant’s blood mingled with a hag’s
    The north’s snow turned black

    In a kingless land
    He shed blood and tears
    Conflict and battle without end
An angel’s grace from which he went
    Being the weapon
    That felled the father
    Of the Demon’s son

Heaven’s decree fell on the Demon’s son
    Knights, Priests and an Archon
The Five against a deity’s will
Yet the Demon’s son triumphed still

A kingless land was kingless no more
Of the five now there were none
No longer was there a Demon’s son
A fiend of sanguine lust ruled
    Beside a Demon King

The man named Violence left his friend
    Under a glittering sky
    Of ebony velvet
The man named Violence went forth again
