Check out the thread in Sorcerous sundries about the chat. That explains what's going on and links to an alternate server.

I've been having trouble with my connection lately - because of the way my uni allows access, I can only use Quick Chat - and that ain't as reliable as mIRC. There will be two time slots on a Saturday 10am GMT (set in New Reno) and 10pm (set in a small village of my own creation). The New Reno story is currently running, based on the character of Durry (Aikanaro). I have been holding off on the village slot, hoping to get more character sheets before I began, but I'm going to try for a start next week.

OK, apologies to everyone about the missed sessions. Quickchat screwed up on me again.

Just for general information, the game is set around 2200, although no-one has a working Pip-Boy to tell them the exact date. There are two games which I intend to merge once I can reconcile the different time zones.

1- Set in New Reno. In my setting the Wrights are the biggest players - they made their empire from control of the station back when the city got vital supplies by rail. However, they've become complacent and allowed their power to slip (also the trains have stopped running, so the station is worthless). The town is poorer than it will be by the time of Fallout 2, and many small gangs fight over what little it has to offer. The Bishops and Salvatores are two of these gangs, but do not stand out by much. The Bishops have recently claimed the Shark Casino as there base of operations, a considerable advantage since none of the other gangs as yet possesses a pre-war casino. The old Salvatore boss was killed in a firefight a year or so back, and Louis (the boss in Fallout two, currently in his early twenties) has taken over, making several bold moves that caught the other gangs by surprise. The Mordinos of course, do not even exist as a gang.

2- Set in a small survivalist village. The village was settled by rebels from a forgotten vault. Whether they were exiled or left of their own volition is unknown. The village is located in eastern Nevada, in a fertile area with clean streams and groundwater, and a small forest. The village is close to concentrations of Geckos, which are hunted for their pelts, and coyotes and wolves, which occaisionally prey on the Brahmin. The village has had no contact with other human beings, save a terrible attack from partially mutated raiders in its tenth year. The village's technology has slowly declined(although not to tribal level), as machines failed with no parts or raw materials to effect repairs. The villagers are proud of their self-sufficiency, claiming it sets them apart from "Vaulties".

    quote from Cypheriel..

"Just thinking theres 5 of us and we get to tag 3 skills right and theres 15 skills total, 5 of which are combat oritented so we could tag every skill if we knew what each others tag skills were, just a thought.."

..although I would agree with you that this is a strategic thought, this is something that is commonly related to min/max'ing.. Once you start treating your characters like nothing more than a collection of numbers and statistics, the game starts being more oriented around "winning" and less around having fun.

Just a thought IN GENERAL about min/max'ing ...

    (forgot to add)

don't mean to be bringing up slightly old posts, but I'm still catching up. :D  ;)

BTW.. anyone here ever use OpenRPG? That's what I plan to use once my adventures are ready to go, if I can convince other people to download it. :p
