The gnome says in broken but understandable common, "Why have you come here, one of the surface?"

Drazhar looks at the gnome then at Khazar.
"Personaly it's kind of obvious why we're here, don't you think?"
At the gnomes inconprehending stare Drazhar sighs and looks to Khazar and shrugs.
"Do you keep in contact with the gnomes up stairs? Well if you do then you would know that they are recruiting any one and everyone to help them rid themselves of the trolls kobolds and orcs that are plagueing these mines."
Drazhar looks at the gnome waiting for an answer.

"Tunnels you were in have not been used since the fated day of the umberhulk attack, Many a surface year has past since deserted that area we have," the gnome replied.

Khazar looked at the gnome leader sympatheticaly...

"We are very sorry to hear that had we been notified by anyone that you were in trouble with the underbeasts we would have offered our services. We are only here to help friend, Feirhanith here is a Paladin and so if we had any evil intentions he would not be with us and knowing him would have already attempted to kill us. Now come on be serious here if you want any help from us to get rid of the beasts then the first thing you should think about is treating us like allies and not enemies. You may keep us under watch by your skillfull arrers but I can asure you they won't need to use their weapons. Now what do you say, do you want help from us?

  5. zaknafein Guest

"Any help would be welcome, but how shall we know if you are not from our enemies? I shall come back with a priest to divine your intentions." The gnome left and came back later with a priest who cast a simple spell and proclaimed, "There intentions are good sir." The gnome opened the door of the cell and took them to a more comfortable room.

Khazar looked at the gnome chief and smiled...

"Great now that, that is over could we please be let out and could you help us with a few things. Firstly we need to know where the umberhulks are, if there are anymore humans in the tunnels and if anyone could fix my friend here's weapon."

  7. zaknafein Guest

"Humans! Down here in the tunnels! Oh well, if they are they are probably dead. Now lets see about that sword," the gnome takes the sword and stdudies it. "A good sword this is," the gnome exclaimed in aproval. "A good mithril or adamtite tip would be suitable, I'll cut you a deal, if you destroy the umberhulk nests then we can fix this sword and even cast a few usful spells on it. There are nests of about ten umberhulks each, and abot three nests in all. We can provide a guide to the nests as you surface dwellers probably don't know your way around."

Drazhar's face lights up in the prospect of getting his blade fixed.
"Hmm mithril yes. Tell me do you have any silver in the mines?" Drazhar asks of their gnome host.

  9. zaknafein Guest

"Of course there is plenty of silver. There is always plenty of everything down here"

Khazar turns to the other two adventurers and says...

"Ok then we shall help these people, so that you Drazhar can get your blade fixed and I can get out of this hole i'm starting to feel a little claustraphobic."

He turns to the gnome leader...

"We will take your offer friend but a guide would be handy to have around if it is possible."

[IMG] Drazhar nods his head in assent.
"Yes a guide will be useful for we have not an idea where we go in these tunnels."

OOC: Carry it on DM it may be slow but you can still pick this up

  12. zaknafein Guest

ooc: hell yeah its slow but we'll try to pick it up. Maybe we should also get some kind of system going, maybe more D&Dish or something else entirerly

IC: "Good, good, yes, very good. Jubbel!" yelled out the gnome and it was soon answered but another gnome which came sliding into the around the door and into the room.
    "Why yes?" it questioned
"Lead these three out into the deeper tunnels to near the umberhulks be, they shall fix this problem we now find ourselves in."
"Right away master," the gnome replied and began to walk from the building and into the city.
"Oh, and Jubbel," said the gnomish leader, "Make sure you supply these two for the journey first."
The other gnome came back into the building for an instant and bowed to his leader and beconed to the adventurers to follow him before taking off out the door again.

Looking around him Feirhanith was inspecting the details of the tunnel with his new found night vision.

"these tunnels are very well constructed, i do not believe that this is the work of gnomes....how did your race come to live here?...." Feirhanith followed the little being with his ever curious looks upon his face.

"Ah foolish surface dweller beleives us to be our surface cousins. We not surface gnomes, we be svirfnebli, and of course we constructed this you silly old fool," the gnome ranted on while leading the group through the gnomish city.
The surface dwellers hadn't seen anything like it before. It was as if it was made from one huge rock with small houses and smithies everywhere. They recieved a few curious glances but most of the town was busy working and didn't pay much attention to them.
Jubbel led them to a small smithy where he had a short conversation with another gnome before he was given a long sword which he handed to Drazhar.
"You might want to use this sword while yours gets repaired," he told his and gestured for Drazhar to give his sword to the smith.

Reluctantly unsheathing his sword, he hands it over to the gnomish smithy.
"Uhm, if you would be so kind my good man," He asks of the gnome, "May you just give it a new tip, i have an idea i would like to try and exploit."
The gnome nods his assent to the tall man and turns to his anvil, fingering the broken tip of the broken sword.
Turning out from the smithy's, the small troupe are led again through the many caverns and tunnel ways of the gnomish underground city.
looking up Drazhar spots walkways leading up and across the walls in the higher up reaches of the cavern they were passing through.
"Wow it looks as if you have hollowed out the whole mountain,"

  16. zaknafein Guest

"Mountain? Oh that mountain. Only the highest point is in the mountain. Most of it be just deep down in the Underdark."
The gnome stoped for a short time to collect some packs which he handed to each of the advendurers before leaving the city.
The gnome obviously knew where he was going and just as obviously didn't like it. They were on the path that had led them to the city in the first place.
