Fighter / cleric all the way. Mainly because there's almost nothing they can't handle in my experience. Particulalry when you're a half orc for that little extra strength!

I'm always an arcane spellcaster of some kind, never a cleric though (hated goldslaves.... ahem!).

Always sorcerer, at times thief or ranger. I could never think myself as a paladin or clerk, which strike me as religious kamikaze-bombers. :shake:

I love the Archer for powergaming, but in roleplaying, especially the PnP, Paladins, Fighters, or Judges, a class I use in my friends PnP...

I'm most comfortable as a mage/thief multiclass and if not that then another class that has a mage or thief component. I like to have a certain degree of flair so I can't get into characters that are too warrior-like.

A fighter of some sort. I liked the paladin, just felt good. Though any fighter really. I felt to weak to play as a class like a mage. Eh...

    Druid :D

Or even better, the bestest, if i could play monk/druid, that'd be the easiest to roleplay, actually i'd just be playing myself more than anything.

For me, a Cleric/Mage (or even better, a Cleric/Illusionist gnome) is the thing! A master of all kinds of spells, he (or she) really becomes a powerhouse by the last half of ToB. I'm also partial to Druids (Totemic) and Monks. I wish Monks were more like their D&D 1st edition selves (they could use crossbows and quarterstaves).

For versatility, I like Skalds. They have the best song in the game, they can use more weapons than a Blade can (because they don't specialize) and when they use those weapons, they are better at hitting than your average rogue. Plus, given that I am an English teacher, the Skald is the type of entertainer that suits me the best -- he's not a physical actor like the Blade or a goofball like the Jester -- he makes great poetry and uses his voice to deliver it.

I feel cheated by the game because it does not allow Sorcerer/Thief. I always play some kind of arcane type, but much prefer Sorcerers over Mages. I also like having a thief for their abilities and coolness factor. I usually play Mage/Thief, but really wish there was some way to be a Sorcerer/Thief.

A non-kit Thief. Every single time I take a kit, it always just seems wrong..

I simply can't stand playing fighters. I don't know why.

Samurai.. err, a ranger adept at both melee and ranged combat, or a fighter/thief.

For me it's a Cleric. I just seem to be better at using Divine Spells like Flame Strike, Call Lightning and later on Storm of Vengeance. Though for a pure fighting class I love the monk.

Give me a Wild Mage, or any of the thief kits and I will be happy. I have tried all other classes, but none really appeal to me that much.

I am considering the idea of trying a bard specialised in enchantments, though...

Cavalier... no poison or fear to worry about, and that Holy Avenger sword is great. Yeah, sometimes sacrificing missile weapons sucks, but in this case, I think it's worth it.

Sorcerer or Magic User. I've played "the wizard" since I started pnp games 20 years ago. I play "the wizard" in every new game I ever try. I'm actually a little disappointed that the sorcerer became such a mainstream, popular character in BG2 and is now considered over-powered. I liked it better when playing "the wizard" was considered difficult (not that I mind using double-strength timestop/improved alacrity to become an orbital battle station).

For me it is the plain thief. There is something about a thief that seems much more realistic to play then any other character. It seems unreal for me to have one tank or one spellcaster singlehandidly eradicate an entire city of illithid or other super powerful creatures. The only way I can justify one character killing multiple dragons, liches, illithid, beholders, demons, undead, drow, elementals, etc. is by having a character that uses his craftiness to kill them.
