what do u guys think is a really good role playing-wise character to go with? ive been playing my elf true-fighter for ages now and im getting quite bored. any characters you could recommend for a solo starting in ToB that could have loads of background pumped into them and that i would never play as (in any normal circumstance).

PS dont mention ne elves, im bored with them...

How about a halfling swashbuckler or pure thief ? Might be *the* total change for you since you'll miss almost any substantial melee capability.
Or take a multiclass mage-thief or mage or soircerer for a change - all these classes offer lot's of micromanagement that will surely change you playing experience.

i had a lot of fun playing thief characters, but equally had fun with the sorcerer and the monk (something interesting happens every level-up)

I think the essence of role-playing any character is WHAT you want it to be...

Just look at some of the stories in Creativity Surge. The basis for each story varies from stats to alignment, from class to status as GodChild, from unwanted gender-change to fourm posts about what "cheese" is.

Like in pnpDnD, you can play almost any character for any reason you want - it is up to your imagination.

I;m with Kailynne Johanne on this one... I am thinking of playing through the entire series as a mage who wants to be a thief but never dual classes. Probably something like a CN alignment rather than truly EVIL, a bit of a narcisistic and rude individual who occasionally answers dialogues poorly or wrongly and thus gets himself into trouble occasionally.

[IMG] I would say that some type of bard might be good for that. Or maby some kind of priest. Try a druid. They are pretty good.

[IMG] yeah druids are ok, i just dont think they suit me though...

im thinkin somethin drastic like a half orc cleric-thief (done it) or somethin like that. just think of something that you'd never do. i think im lookin for some sort of challenge, like the 966666 challenge only WAY easier.

[IMG] Why don't you try a bard? Blades and Skalds are pretty good at high levels.
