    IMO Sorcerers are well overpowered!

When you get a sorcerer into the high levels they become invincible! Maybe what im saying just accounts for mages in general, but i am playing with a sorcerer (am very near to finishing ToB) and i am pretty much soloing him.

No word of a lie: I beat Draconis, Abazigal and other hard guys within 2 minutes.

I just use this combination Time Stop -- Improved Alacracy -- Dragons Breath -- Dragons Breath x 2 -- Comet -- Abi Dalzims Horrid Wilting x 2 (the time stop wears off right about now)It decimates anything straight away and also works on big groups off monsters like a treat.

He's AWESOME! have got Robe Of Vecna and Staff of Magi (or whatever its called).

i have completed ToB twice already but always found it hard work, i am simply dominating! :D

I think magic users in general are very powerful at high levels. Ok, the sorcerer is more combat oriented and can cast any of his chosen spells over and over and over. The mage can't cast the same spell(s) quite so many times, but does have some diversity.

The only problem with magic-users in general is getting to the high levels. If your magic is interrupted or dispelled then you're in trouble.

Once you're there it's great fun. I have played a sorcerer and it was excellent, but generally I use a Bard or a Specialist Mage imported from BG1.

Regular or improved Draconis/Abazigal? Defeating the regular pair solo isn't much of a feat. Now if you defeated the improved versions solo (via Ascension), I'd be impressed. :)

Yeha, i got Ascension installed... I'm pretty pissed off at that mod actually... the Mellisan fight ****ed up and crashed everytime i tried to go to the Throne of Blood, so i uinstalled ToB with the idea of a full reinstallation, but now i get some kind of File Transfer Error when i try and install ToB again.... pretty ****ed off about that TBH :( I'm blaming Ascension!

If I cant play ToB again... needless to say i'll be pretty pissed off :( Bloody Ascension mod, lol

Resurrecting the Big J and his siter + Sarevok ONCE AGAIN was just too much for me -yep, goodbye Ascension. :nolike:

Dunno if sorcerers are that much dominating when compared to other spellcasters: they all get just that 6 spells and that's it -sorcerers just do not need to choose beforehand what they are going to use (dandy :D )

I think what makes sorcerers so overpowering is no one fight is any harder than another. For example, I was bored the other day so I loaded up 2 of each dragon (red, black, shadow, green, silver) and killed them all just as easily as I would kill one. Timestop, alacrity, lower resist all of them, timestop again, greater malison, abi dalzims a while, then some finger of deaths for good measure. They all plop dead, after 3 timestops. It's just not fair for the enemies. Not to mention I could have just sunfired all day to kill all of them except the reds. Or summon planetar and a few mords swords. Or Imprison them all, load the ground with skill traps, then release them. Hell I could have energy bladed them. So, in the end, too powerful because one: the dificulty of all encounters is the same (zero) and two: way too many options, nothing can stop them.

If you want a rather amazing challenge for a sorcerer, try starting a new game at TOB rather than going through SOA. Make sure you use the improved Ilasera mod. Oh, and of course, set the difficulty on insane. If you can survive that, I'll be more than impressed.

High Level Sorcerers have no enemies in ToB.
Without using any alacrity ring/anything unofficial,
it is still the most powerful class at high levels.
An example: I destroyed Demogorgon and its infernal (and abyssal) creatures with my Sorcerer alone...

    No you didnt, lol

I cannot see how you can win any big fight like that without a big tank in there with Greater Whirlwind, to inflict damage and take the guy (and his many summons) down.

When he keeps healing himself, you soon run out of spells.

I am sometimes amazed by the sheer blind arrogance of some of the people on this forum! (Bloody good though, lol)

It is easier than you think to win that fight with a sorceror. For example, if your sorcerer projects images, each image can use the entire spellbook of the sorcerer, including all those lovely 9th and quest level spells. (For some reason, an image can also summon 5 planetars at once.) There's also a way of combining simulacrum and project image (as well as restoration from scroll) to do away with the simmy's level drain and to multiply a spellbook ridiculously.

Wish, with high enough wisdom, can replenish all spells, allowing you to do it again (and again). Realistically, with enough project images and wish spells, a sorceror has an infinite amount of spells. Plus, I think there's a way of casting spell trap and having your own side replenish your spells by firing spells at your own sorcerer (never tried it but read it somewhere).

Sorcerers are boring to play after a while. It's too easy.

    [IMG] @Morsmodre

The official Demogorgon (not any of his overpowered versions by unofficial (no)things)

I destroyed it, whatever you think.
    Read the following:

    Sorcerer level 22
    Before the battle:
    1) Set Chain Contingeny: 3x Pierce Shield
    2) Equip all the best magical items of the party
    to your sorcerer.
    3) Spell Trap + Immunity spells + etc.

    Battle:
    1) Chain Cont. triggers
    2) Time Stop (stops Marileths)
    3) 3x Abi Dalzim
[4) Planetars] if Demogorgon still lives...
