Is there a way to lower the movement rate of the monk? I never was too partial to running around at a high speed.

Finally, are there any pieces of armor that allows a bard to cast magic? I found a really cool looking portrait. To take a peek at it, click here.

It makes me think of playing as a blade or as a diresinger (one of those new kits floating about)

I suspect that a Monk's movement is hard-coded in the engine, and cannot be changed. One of the modding geniuses will know for sure.

Yes, there are armors that Bards can wear and still cast magic. I'll avoid spoilers for now, but if you want more specifics, ask ;)

I think monks get a movement speed bonus in their clab files.

basically that means that their speed bonuses are applied when they level up.

try the jesters chain which you get from the vending machine in spellhold, or any elven chain mail such as bladesinger chain.

That's correct. You can either remove the references to spcl812 in clabmo1.2da, or remove the effect via Shadowkeeper. (If the game's already in progress, use SK.)

For bard armor, let me suggest an alternative approach--the Allow Arcane Spellcasting in Armor tweak from BG2 Tweaks will allow spellcasting in any armor... but with a miscast magic penalty for heavier and bulkier armor. Details here.

Song and Silence mod adds a new bardic store. It has some bard armors too, though you will eventually find better armors for a bard in the original game. And with the UAI HLA you can even don robes.

An advice, change your avatar to a thief, so that your bard will have that cool little hood (like the portrait!) when he wears leather armor (like in IWD!). Otherwise, the game uses the original and ugly priest avatars. Ugh.

There is a mod in progress over at the Spellhold Studio site that adds in a pair of boots that reduces the speed of a monk to the normal rate.

At least I think there is. Could be wrong.
