[IMG] Ok I read that people go solo through the game. How solo is solo? Do you not pick up other characters, or do you keep one character in addition to your main character?
I mean other characters are where the experience is at, but usually you have to add them to your party. Some quests don't require that you pick up that character.
I find it hard to solo, the main problem is having to carry things, there is so much cool stuff to pick up, where to store all that stuff and you're not going to get a bag of holding until later. Or a stronghold. One thing I sometimes do is sell all my cool stuff to one particular store and steal it back later.
    How solo do you go?

I'm planning to do everything alone here, so quests where I have to pick people up and keep them in the party are out.

Only 2 exceptions I've planned on are:
I picked up Jahera for a day to do the Harpers hold for the ring of wizardry. No self-respecting sorcerer would be without one of those. She got me in, then got the sack.

I'm off to pick up Valyar now to get into the Planar Sphere. Again it's a must, but he's offski as soon as I get in.

If you're going solo, you're alone against the world. Watch out world.

mmm Ok true solo, I like it.
Oh anyone else reading here, since I dont want to post a new subject, what is the best roll you've had for your main character. My stats were really good and I felt guilty about it, because I felt I was too powerful, and by the time you recieve all the stat additions from BG1 to TOB wow just to powerful.

well the maximum you can roll is 108 for stats, and anything over 90 is fantastic, my highest score being 98 with a ranger/cleric.

Is it me, or do you tend to get higher rolls, for different classes?

No you are right, higher rolls for different classes. Simply because some classes have a minimum stat requirment, meaning that you will probably see a high roll sooner than with a class or character with low minimum stat requirments.
I rolled 102, then sometime later I tried to do a clean reinstall of the game, when I tried to open my save game up next time it kept crashing. :(
I also rolled that 102 with a human fighter, whose minimum stat requirements are real low, it took a little while

[IMG] I found that Rangers tend to get the Highest Rolls. Ive got a roll of 103 with an Elven ranger. Blades are up there too.

Btw, if you're going solo, it would be best to do it with a Bard, or a multiclass Thief/mage. Since magic ability is nigh on a must.

*puke*, how do you people roll? Do you sit there for hours with a calculator and add it all up? This is how you should roll, say, "whatever i get on this roll i will use". What you get you use! Sure, you can sit there for 5 minutes and roll 90+ stats, but heck it shouldn't work that way. Any good DM won't allow it, unless i saw you roll it on that turn you decide to take your points in.

Bah! If people get enjoyment from rolling until they get good stats, great for them. It's part of the game, and people play games to have fun.

If they find out later that maxing out abilities or cheating spoiled their fun, then they'll know better in the future.

Too true BTA, however, i don't like how one can say they got legit rolls of 90+ after countless tries. Its like that MC hammer song, to legit to quit.! whatever that means.

[IMG] Nor do I like people that want to moan about what people roll. With pen and paper we always used a system where you would have three chances to roll for your character. But with computer rpg's it's different. Making a cool character by being able to roll for a while until you create what you have pictured in your mind, is just another aspect that some people enjoy. I don't sit there for countless rolls, but I like to try and roll decent stats. As I said above when I rolled in the 100's I thought it was too powerful and ended up playing a more balanced character anyway.
Everybody finds pleasure in different aspects of the game.
Do you mind people that enjoy hacking their characters? No couldn't allow that.

There is a problem I've found with soloing (I think), after irenicus nicks your soul you loose your special abilities like cure (though some alignments don't get it...) but doesn't that mean that you get little to no healing from a rest beacause you have no healing spells/abilities (unless of course you were a cleric or something...).

[IMG] You always lose those abilities after you get the Slayer Change.

Use a regen item. Any one will do, sleep, hey presto fit for another day.

Who needs a single cure light wounds at that stage? You should have at least 3 items with regeneration iirc.

If you're a spellcaster, take the level 10 Avatar. Gets heal and a few other nifty things. Hard as nail too. Bastard turned on me yesterday. Ooops. I was already low on HP. Re-load time.

Summoned 4 of those and we had some fun in the Twisted Rune. Don't think you're meant to have more than one, but try having your projected image summon them....
