Beregost crash bug

    Well I hit this bug and lost about half an hour of game play when I had to revert to an old save. I tried the bug-fixer and it didn't work. So I'll just be sure to have a fresh save before I go to Beregost from now on.

    My question is: will the bug always manifest right after I leave Beregost? Is it okay to copy over my main save if I go to a different area after Beregost? If I go to an adjacent area without a glitch does that mean the bug didn't strike that time?

    You are playing easytutu right? See at Macreadys site for the workaround. There's no solution for the Beregostcrash so far AFAIK.

    Yeah, I am playing with EasyTutu. Somebody linked me to a java program that was supposed to fix a broken save. It didn't work for me, though. I'll try the EasyTutu webpage as you suggest.

    Should be said, that some experience troubles in Beregost, some in Cloackwood, and some don't see any such problems.

    I hadn't heard about a Cloakwood bug. I'll play it safe when I get that far and have some back-up saves. Is this bug able to be worked around like the Beregost bug?

    Yes, just make plenty of saves and besides that it ain't that common (like the Beregost one)

    I am sorry for your predicament, Rastamage.

    Here is the work around I always do to negate this bug:

    1)Save before entering Beregost. Name this 'PRE-Beregost'.

    2)Make a seperate save as soon as you are in Beregost. Name this save file 'Beregost.'

    3)Now, leave Beregost and enter any other area in world-map. Once in there, make another seperate save named 'AFTER-Beregost'.

    4)Quit your game.

    5)Try loading your 'AFTER-Beregost' save game.

    6)If it loads normally, this means Beregost has not corrupted your save game-world map this time. You can now reload your 'Beregost' save and continue playing in Beregost.

    7)If it fails, fall back to your 'Pre-Beregost' save, delete 'Beregost' and 'AFTER-Beregost' saves. And do all the steps again till your new 'AFTER-beregost' save is uncorrupted.

    I use this strategy and never have trouble with Beregost bug. Oh and be sure to visit Beregost only when absolutely neccesary. (an ankheg plate mail may not worth it.) And always, always use this procedure every time you enter Beregost. Better be safe then sorry.

    I think this a little too tense. Do the initial savings first time you visit Beregost, and then you should be able to come and go as you please. Of course a save before visiting Beregost might be a good idea...

    Just quicksave right before you enter Beregost, take care of business, get the hell out, and if you don't crash, save again immediately right after you get out.
