    i voted Kensai, simply because i hate all mages. Sorcerors are not as bad as mages, but anyway I don't like magic-users...

    IMO,both are very good.Both are different classes so this is a very hard question.
    At high levels (get 24) Kensai gets +8 to hit and damage.That is huge.Now let's say that Kensai will be lvl 35-36 before game ends.Yup.
    But sorcerer can cast 9 magic missiles/chromatic orbs,5 red dragon fire breath,7 mass inv/mordenkainen's sword/my warding whip,6 or 7 abi dalzim,6-7 breach,6-7 stoneskin/fireshield red.
    So I voted for sorcerers.

    Yes you can DC a Kensai to Mage.

    Chose your level at which to do so wisely though. LOTS of threads on this I'm sure, so use the search option at the top equally wisely.

    Oh yeah, as for the topic - Sorcerer. Gotta love those dudes.

    Nothing better to get rid of any foe you encounter.
    They just plainly rock.

    With sorcerer it isn't such fun to spend first few rounds putting up defences and then release some spells to defeat a band of minor monsters :rolleyes:

    Go for the Kensai. The Sorcerer is powerful, but it's nothing compared to a Kensai Dual-wielding Celestial fury and that other +3 katana from the extra merchant in Adventurer's mart.

    AFAIK there is no other +3 katana even in SOA. And certainly not in Adventurer's Mart with extra merchant.

    Dakkon's Zerth Blade is +2
    It gives +1 AC and lets you memorize one extra first,second,third,fourth level spell.
    Great for Kensai/Mages.

    I would go for Sorcerer any given time and place. I can kill easily a high-level kensai with my high-level sorcerer. The question is, can you do the oposite thing (namely kill a sorcerer with a kensai in tha later stages of the game)?

    I am assuming your question Hyperion is a rhetorical one, but i am gonna answer it any ways.

    Most likely not. In the later stages of the game, a kensai should not be able to beat a sorcerer. All it takes is one trigger to go up, Stoneskin, mirror image, and some other good defensive spell and it will take some time to get through, and before you know it, timestop, Lower MR is the kensai has MR, and wham, here come the offensive spells, and you got 1 dead kensai.

    I like to play as a Kensai but I certainly agree that a high level sorcerer would be more likely to win in a one on one battle.

    Voted sorcerer. Kensai is good but come on, no where near as powerful as a sorcerer. But they are diff classes I suppose

    Sorcerer!! Protection from Magical Weapons on a Sorcerer who's been through the Hell Trials for immunity to +1 weapons or less... Kensai cant do jack sh*t!

    But Kensai's are cool...dual weild Celestial Fury with Crom Faeyr and Greater Whirlwind away...

    But coming back to the poll, Sorcerers can kick any Kensai's ass ANYTIME!!

    Nah, got to go with Kensai. Would slice up the sorcerer cajun style before he could say three words. Plus that not being able to memorize spells would slow me down a bit.

    I think you mean the sorcerer not being able to memorize spells would slow him down not you. This is actually to the sorcerers advantage, sure he doesn't have a wide selection of spells, but if chosen wisely he will have all the spells he will ever need, and be able to cast any of his spells up to the maximum allowed for that level of spell. And if he doesn;t have a certain spell he can still cast from a scrolls so :p
