Paladin for his excellent 2 handed paladin sword, can wear full plate and the usual paladin/kit abilities.

A barbarian never sounded that great to me.

Its hard to play these off against eachother, as they have different priciples.

It all really depends on whether you like to go all out offensive, because if you do, then the Barbarian is perfect, due to his rage, and prowess in combat, perfect for beating down enemies quickly.

The Paladin however is created in order to win combat only in the defensive, all its special abilities are protective, and generally help the party. These are classes for basically standing their own, taking a beating but still triumphing overall in the end.

For me, Barbarian is perfect, as I enjoy to end battles quickly, usually before the enemy is ready.

Both of them have very useful abilities(Barbarian rage is great).I think they are equal, but I prefer paladin ONLY BECAUSE OF CARSOMYR.

As for me, Barbarian has a full packlage of immunities, and Paladin is not so well-equipped.

Besides, Paladin is limited in alignment and race.

Then, to add the fact that Carsomyr dispels only depending on some factors (your level), while Staff of the Magi or Arrows of Dispelling dispel every time, so the sword isn't that great...

    Well, Barbarian wins ! ;)

Only problem with the barbarian is that he cant wear heavy armour. I'd much rather have the boost to elemental resistances and spells of a cavalier or the abilities of an inquisitor or undead hunter. In my opinion, there's really no reason to choose a barbarian over a berserker. In the context of this question, then, I would say paladin wins out, especially as I tend towards good.

Heavy armour isn't that great in the game, because there are so many good leather armours anyway (Shadow Dragon Armor anyone?), so Barbarian isn't so affected by this. OTOH, Carsomyr is one of the 2 most powerful weapons in SOA, and the Inquisitor is truly wicked.

I've played both, and they feel very different. For me I think it's a tie between Barbarian and Inquisitor, as I enjoy playing either.

A barbarian is a much cooler class, not only for its abilities, but also it's not a goodie-two-shoes like a paladin.
I tried playing a paladin once and got irritated by the fact that you can become a fallen paladin (I'm pulled too much to the evil acts I suppose)

I like Paladins and Barbarians both, but Paladins are better IMHO.

I really don't want to open up a whole new can of worms, but I find it highly unlikely that someone raised in a library would be a savage barbarian.

Yes, but the Bhaalspawn you play was known for skipping classes, so it could be possible.

i choose paladins because they have this absolutely beutifull carsomyr +5 and because they can wear full plate and because they have all this attributes. Barbarians are just good tanks nothing more...a piece of meat with some muscles actually.
