Help! I've just reloaded SOA and TOB back onto my pc thinking i'll re-live my youth and kick some butts liberally.....but I've got one serious problem!

The Sewer Golem in Irenicus's Dungeon won't speak to me. Everytime i approach him it says he is busy and can't speak to me right now. Does anyone know how i can over-ride this or what may have caused it?

    Thanks for your help!

Do you have the official patch? The 'x is busy' is a common bug in unpatched game.

i have the official patch and somebody being busy is a constant problem. so far, i've always managed to solve it by reloading before starting conversation (in some cases may even take 4-5 reloads, but it always has worked finally). but yeah, this is annoying.

make sure u have the right patch, then install the unofficial patch called baldurdash, then you should be free of bugs

Not to flog the horse, but patched BG2 is extremely stable. I haven't seen a bug in the vanilla install...hardly ever, and only in the first days of owning the game after it was released. If you've got any problems, you've got the wrong patch or a bad install.

Indeed, wrong patch is the one that gets my pointy finger. If you have ToB installed, you only take the ToB patch and if you havn, you haven't, you take the SoA patch. As simple as that.

so, what was exactly the cause of your problem (if it is solved now)?

You said in a previous post that you didn't have 'the official patch". Did you mean that you had actually installed the SOA official patch over TOB?
