If I wish to ally with Bohdi, is there any way to enter the Shadow Thief Guildhall and take the special training?

As I understand it, I can play a Thief, dual to cleric, accept the Cleric Stronghold, do the Thief sidequest (but not get its guildhall), and still ally with Bohdi. However, this will not result in getting access to the guildhall, and I miss the training XP (it's not much, but every bit helps when you have a small Evil party).

The only 'training' I remember is a little area on the second floor of Maevar's guildhall. I usually do it first thing when I get in there, but I'm not sure if it resets or not if you accept the stronghold.

If that's not the training you're talking about, then do you have any mods?

With Expanded Thief Stronghold, there are a few more quests worth some XP... perhaps those?

Nah, I meant in the same area as Aran Linveil. There's that Thieve's Guild instructor who puts you through some tests. You can only enter, I think, if you get the Thieve's Guild or if you ally with The Shadow Thieves (to start chapter 3).

Oh, you don't need to get the guildhall to do the three tests that Aran gives you. Those come when you join his side to be shipped off to Brynnlaw. They are nearly identical to Bodhi's.

Yes, while you may miss out on the quests that Aran gives you in Chapter 3, the quests that Bodhi gives you come to about the same benefits.

But I get the feeling you're not talking about that since you referred to a "Thieves' Guild instructor" "in the same area as Aran Linvail" and not Aran himself. Now while I remember some oddities in the rooms in that area (other thieves training), I don't remember anyone putting the PC through any tests, and certainly no XP gain. :bad: Can you be more specific, like directions through the area starting from a named NPC or a specific landmark?

I have a vague memory of doing some training there as well. The area where the instructor is teaching a guy to shoot his bow or something. I think I remember ONE time where I was able to do some 'training' as well. However, it's extremely insignificant, and I don't think the XP earned is much. And I don't think there's a way of getting it without siding with the Shadow Thieves.

Frankly, if you're using a "small Evil party" then minor XP like that is really less important than in a normal 6 man party, because the XP you get elsewhere is divided among less party members and folks reach higher levels quicker anyways.
