I entered the Copper Coronet in Athkatla, and Yoshimo just dies. Why? Would it have happened if he was in my party?

He was given a geas by Irenicus to bring you to him. You would have had to kill him in Spellhold. He was a traitor.

 

This was a big suprise for me my first run through, but superbly done in the story. If you've killrd him in spellhold, he asks you to take his heart to a temple of ilmater so his soul can find peace, instead of burning in the abbyss.

 

So he stays dead after that?

I thought he was a rat!

 

There's a glitch in the game IIRC that lets you keep Yoshi after getting back from Spellhold. If he's in the CC, pause the game as soon as the game loads when you enter the CC. While the game is paused, CTRL + Q him, and there you go! He won't have any dialogs from that point onward...but if you really want him, that's one way to keep him.

 

Will he survive into TOB? Just wondering, because he can't be summoned in the pocket plane.

 

Hmmm...good question. I've never actually kept him for more than 5 minutes after keeping him alive, I just can't stand a NPC that doesn't talk.

He's still alive in ToB (not sure 100% tho)

 

There's a hard-coded something in BGMain that kills Yoshimo upon him entering the Suldanesselar.

But it's possible to recreate him in chapter 6, for example. Tortured Souls allow to keep Yoshi, but the story of the mod is not at all to my taste.

 

Not really, I brought him till the tree of life alright, killed Jon, went to hell. He even talked to me there

Ahhhh, you're lucky, you're playing without Baldurdash. It eliminates the exploit of "keeping Yoshimo"

 

Wish the Yoshimo betrayal had been handled a bit differently. If you don't take him to Spellhold, Yoshimo and his group should attack you in Bodhi's lair when you go there to get back Imoen's soul.
Atleast that way you would get the proper story regardless of whether you take him to spellhold or not.

 

That's a great idea ! So if you take him with you, he regrets his betrayal, but if not, you're just a stranger to him, that needs to be eliminated for his master. It could work, yes. Better, much better than simple death in Copper Coronet.
