I was up to chapter 7 when somehow some file was corrupt and I couldn't get it to load. So, I reinstalled everything. The gamesave was corrupt so bleh.

Anyway, I removed all files and fully reinstalled again. I added Ascension, Ease-of-Use, and Dungeon-Be-Gone.

So All I did was restart the game, made a paladin as the PC. 2 *'s in two-handed sword, 2-handed weapon style, and finally in longbow. Now when he hits with the 2-hander, he's doing 23 damage on average. 18/00 (natural believe it or not!) strength. But why on earth is he doing 23 damage or so? Never seen under 20 damage so far. Using the 2hander the djinni guy gives.

That sounds about right. You should check you game difficulty settings causeI think that can affect it

It's on core difficulty. I switched it from normal or whatever the default is.

I'm not surprised he's doing that kind of damage. He's got the best strength natural, specialization in 2 handed swords and bonuses from his style of fighting. IMO, it's the 2 handed weapon style that's doing the brunt of your high hits.

    Specialisation: +2 damage
    Strength: +6 damage
    Weapon Style: +1 damage
    Weapon Enchantment: +2 damage

That puts you at 12-21 damage range, IIRC. And then +1 extra on top of that for the health drain.

I don't get why you are doing >20 damage each hit, though that kind of range does sound similar from when I had a character like that.

You get +6 damage bonus for strength, +2 for speialisation and +1 for 2-handed. That's a total bonus of +9 which you can add to the base damage the sword does. Effects from spells, equipment or bard songs can increase this even further.
Since you didn't tell the base damage your 2-handed weapon does it's nearly impossible to give a qualified answer about your game having a bug or not. Or do you really exspect us to have all weapon stats memorized ?

Edit: After Decados added the weapon description for you it's easier to judge this problem.
The remaining +2 (if 23 is the maximum) can be obtained by guntlets of weapon specialisation or bard song combined with chant for example.
Maybe you were just lucky and never got a bad damage roll. Do you use luck increasing items ?

    He does, sort of:
The only 2 handed sword a djinn gives you is the Sword of Chaos +2, of which the stats are:

And how about "call upon holy might" special ability?

Anyway, if you're realy dying out of curiosity, why don't just load the save in shadowkeeper and browse the affects? Maybe the game forgot to clear something.

P.S. So that was n average - thats something broken. BTW, that was a normally created character? Might be a bit touched on the damage side, like drizzt in bg1, if it's downloaded/modified...
