    @ Klorox:

    You just know that you're opening yourself up to the Kensai > Mage counter-argument. ;)

    Naturally, with the overpowered nature of high level magic, the Mage class is the most powerful in the game.

    my favorit is monk. he s hard to start with but once you reach high level he can smack down a same level kensai with a few blows (or just one by quivering palm)

    plus hes got great spell resistance

    I have played a mage/asssin and you can actually coat the projectiles you achive from the spell "melf's minute meteors". Not owerpowred but a cool move in combat.

    At low levels, melee rules. At higher levels the character with the best stuff (and quickest attack) is dominant. There are enough powerful magic items to make a strong melee character able to stop a mage.

    The Inquisitor is extremely powerful at all levels -- with Carsomyr he/she is death to any mage.

    Various classes are the bane of other classes. While the Inquisitor can destroy a mage easily, the Inquisitor could easily be killed by an evil cleric (turned and attacked with ranged weapons).

    A arguement could be made for thieves being the most powerful with their trap setting ability. UAI, Spike Trap, Assassination -- the HLA's make the thief extremely deadly.

    what about the magekiller kit for the fighter, is he any better than inquisitors when fighting spellcasters?

    @sarevok, IMO the wizardslayer is the worst class in the game

    And who cares which is the most powerful, play with a class you want to play

    It greatly depends on the amount of Experience Points you have. If you have the XP Cap Disabler, then I'd take the solo F/M/T. By the end of ToB, he should have about 12 million XPs in each class, and oh, about 100 HLAs. If we're talking single class characters with a more realistic cap of around 6 million, then I'd have to go with the sorcerer. For the most part, you know which spells you will need in the course of adventuring, and just like wild mages they can use wish to restore them at any point. While I will admit that the WM wins out when it comes to versatility, I'd say that considering the game as a whole the sorcerer is superior.

    Simply put, no. The Wizardslayer isn't a good kit to choose as the benefits aren't equal to the disadvantages. The MR isn't that much and the spell failure almost pointless- if you are hitting a mage then he's going to likely die quickly regardless of spell failure.

    Inquisitors can use True Sight so that mages cannot hide from them and Dispel Magic to take down any protections that the mage may have pulled up. The Wizardslayer would be unable to do either.

    @Trellheim: You find it even worse than the Beastmaster?

    The Wizardslayer actually becomes more useful as a dragon slayer -- the spell failure becomes useful after you whack on something quite a few times.

    Is the WM treated as a specialty class? As in, does he get an extra spell per level and does he have an opposition school? Sorry, I havn't played one before :D

    @Stardust:

    Perhaps. Regardless of the truth of the matter, that's the best argument I've seen between 'em for a fair while. ;)

    @Silvershield:

    The Wizardslayer is a Fighter kit, not a Mage one; he has no spells.

    Yes, the wild mage does get a bonus spell per level like specialist. However, unlike specialists, they do not have an opposition school. So they can memorize any spell in the game.

    Yeah this game is not that hard so you can "beat" it with any class so I prefeer to play the class I enjoy most. :)
