Not as far as I know; I believe it's impossible due to engine limitations. But you could try messing around with Shadowkeeper if you're desperate for it.

Yeah, I've never used that before so ... i wouldn't have a clue on how to use it!!!

Are you sure no one would've made a class like that somewhere 'round here?

Nope, sorry. The closest you can come is a gnomish Illusionist/Thief.

Specialist wizards are considered a mage kit by the engine, and you can only have one kit so Assassin/Conjuror is patently impossible.

Sorcerer is considered a seperate class though, so it'd be possible but only with a bunch of modding. You'd have to create a Sorcerer/Thief class in a .2da file and build up whatever else is required for it. Then you could kit it as an Assassin and you'd have an Assassin/Sorcerer. Not worth the effort, IMO.

    EDIT:
Of course, that's just multi-classing. Having it available to dual would be more difficult by an order of magnitude.

@Scythesong: I didn't bother to try something different after I've discovered the true potential of the Sorcerer. Once you find the best, you just stick to it. I just couldn't/didn't want to try anything else. And it's hard for me to even think that a the Wild Mage's power can be compared to the one of a Sorcerer. Yes, it's a specialised kit and it gets the +1 spell slot/spell level and it doesn't have an oposite spell school... Big deal... Still, can't beat the Sorcerer. But, besides the advantages mentioned above, what could be so great about a Wild Mage so it can surpass the Bard and the Sorcerer? If you could make me see through this...

Umm with some luck and skill wild mages can cast their special spells for great effect!

Can they cast higher lvl of spells with their special first level spell?

    Yes they can!

How would you like a 10th level caster summon a skeleton warrior? With a wild-mage it can be done, with a little luck, of course.

Nah. Just try it out for yourself Hype.
In any case it's a fun kit to play the game with, unless you prefer melee oriented characters. You'll need to save often at lower levels though - some of the Wild Surges are quite nasty. (I've managed to gate in a demon at Irenicus Dungeon in a number of occasions)

Nahal's Reckless Dweomer, their special first level spell, can be used to cast any other spell in their spellbook (memorized or not, as long as it's scribed there) but doing so ensures a Wild Surge of somesort, which may or may not be helpful to the caster and to the spell being cast.

Let's see. why Mages are the most powerful? Every spell that they cast has a modified level.

It is possible to cast full magic missiles from the start of the game. It's possible to cast double and triple fireball, wish, what have you. And it's concievable but I have yet to do it to actually cast a spell 4 times off a single level 1 spell.

With a little luck on my side I like to use Time Stop long before I have level 9 spells just because it's scribed.

Double duration Spells possible such as Time Stop. hold. Maze.

Group Tensor's Transformation. Can we say Sarevok with 400hp?

The Cow Drop. Man does that hurt.

Granted it also comes with not so great things like explosive remove magics and stuff But it's gotta have drawbacks for balance right?

But honestly. No having to change your spellbook for a given situation anymore. You ahve any spell you need on hand through the single spell. and like several of the nastier classes they are a bit harder in the early stages but get them up to a decent level and it gets to a point that it's harder to get a bad result than a good one.

^You draw a rather good picture, Starwalker, but can you also tell us the disadvantages and hazards of wild surges? My friend's PC was turned into a woman and it was NOT fun for him. :p

HAHAHAHA!!! Sorry, that's hell funny. Yeah, exactly one of the reasons why i don't like wild mages. Oh, do Wild mages count as a specialist class and therefore 1 extra spell/level?

[IMG] AFAIK they get extra spell per level, but they do not have opposition schools so this alone can be considered a huge bonus. But ofcourse, there MUST be some drawbacks as well!

Hey. They don't even pay attention to the sex of your character after the initial check for romances. Yes you can get turned into a woman. But you stand a chance of getting turned back. You can end up targetting yourself. (I disintigrated myself not just once but 3 times.) You can drop the cow on your own head. You can have that important last spell that makes or breaks a fight burst harmlessly in air as nothing but colored lights, turn into gems in your inventory, or identifies everything in your backpack that you haven't yet, you can get the hiccups or in fact your entire party and everything else in the area the hiccups. What this does I have no idea other than fill the text box full of messages about people hiccuping. The only time that I find that annoying is at high level because then it lasts forever.

I find that much like running around with a Kensai without armor and babying your big warrior that is supposed to do all your super damage until you can find things to protect his ass from the horrible fate he's going to face from running around basically naked. There is some babying it and redoing things at first. Just like if you mess up and the goblins take out your Kensai or your Monk or something. Which we can all admit does happen when we get right down to it. (I'm not sure if everybody here does but I see this as a Con. It's like Micromanaging your Blade. Or worse yet, Defensive Spinning your blade and watching it die because it can't run away and they are hitting through it's AC bonus.)

It's the payoffs in the end that make it all worth it. Toss on a little improved Chaos shield that not only modifies your intentional spell surges but your untintentional ones. It'll last at least most of the Battle. Then i was getting the good Wild Surges later in the game more than anything else. Group and multiple times were my favorite. Blasting a lightning bolt through Yaga Shura's head like I'd become a druid when I was casting an inocuous protection spell because I had no idea what would survive my Double Lengthed Time stopped nearly every mass affect spell in my inventory because suddenly a wild surge had replenished all my spells and the 30 or so hitpoints and when the full minute of time stop wore off my fighters hit Yaga twice to finish him off with everything else already dead at the end of my barage of the entire screen with area affect spells.

It's called a Wild Mage for a reason. He doesn't like being a woman. He reloads and he won't be a woman otherwise he keeps casting spells with wild Surges and hopes to get the same one again. The spell will probably work correctly the next time or better yet infact give him a good result if he does choose to reload.

For me at least I found it worth the risk and an excellent way to cast Wish Spells just to have a spell that let me cast any other spell that I had. The rewards in the end were a definite payoff. Particularly because I imported my mage from BG1 and had a 19 intelligence.

Oh and they do in fact get the Extra spell a level while suffering no restrictions on schools of magic. This in my book puts them well above pure mages. It's one way that you really can out magic Edwin. That necklace of his and all. Otherwise he's the best there is.
