The Phaere's NPC Portraits Mod has been released! As the name would suggest, this is a collection of portraits of the Bioware NPCs done in Phaere's vision. Unlike many similar mods, the end-of-game epilogues actually display the new portraits and not the original ones.

You can view the portraits and get more information here: http://www.rpgdungeon.net/phaere

Versions for both Mac OSX and Windows/UNIX are available.

Minsc isn't based on Bruce Willis, although they do kind of look similar.

These portraits were made by Phaere. I just modified them for BG2 and provided hosting.

Pretty nice overall, except for Viconia's hair. I don't know what it's supposed to be, but it looks like she's got horns or something.

Also, is it just those six? Because the style is nice enough that I wouldn't mind having them for the other npcs.

Minsc - cross between Bruce Willis and Rick Moranis

    Imoen - Clair Danes

    Haer'Dalis - Charlie Sheen

Viconia - Deanna Troi (sp?) from Star Trek:TNG

Edwin - reminds me of someone, but I can't put my finger on who

Edwin reminds me a bit of Chuck Norris.

Edit: I searched a bit through the web and found out he is based on Russel Crowe.

Hmm, actually Chuck Norris was the one I was thinking of. Russell Crowe had occurred to me before, but I dismissed that idea. Oh well.

I agree with Kam, I'd love to see these portraits for all the BG2 NPCs. Also, Kam, I'm pretty sure the "horns" on Viccy are part of a hemlet.

EDIT: Perplexing issue with the portraits. Since you packaged them Rastor, I was hoping you'd be able to help. When I first talk to Aerie in the circus tent, the new portrait is displayed next to the dialog, but when she joins the party, she has her original portrait. Any ideas as to what could cause this?

Also, I love the portraits alot, kudos to Phaere and Rastor :D

Viconia is much more beautiful with old one...
    The rest are cool...

It's good work, but I dislike the "painted & realistic" style. I prefer the original clearer versions. Minsc's head is too small to give the appearance of a huge burly man. And the females aren't quite as pretty as I'd like them to be. Then again, I don't like using known real-life characters as models for a game anyway so who am I to judge. ;)

I forget the actor's name and it's probably already been mentioned but Edwin looks lot like the character who played Hellboy in Hellboy.

They're very good portraits but I can't see myself using them. I'm too attached to the origionals.

Hmm, that doesn't happen in my game. Does the problem persist if you start a new game?
