Just a quick question, how does one manage to get into balthazars compound? Do I have to kill both abygail and sandy? Or is there some other way?

There are 2 ways to get into Balthazar's compound but to answer your question -- yes, you have to have killed Abazigal and Sendai first.

One way is to work with Saeman Havarian. He can escort you into the compound.

The other way is to speak to a couple of adventurerers near Marlowe's house. They have a key that will get you in through the cave.

Either way, you will have to speak with Saeman to get the options and, again, both Abazigal and Sendai have to be dead.

since we're already talking about killing abygail, how do you actually kill him? I need tactics. Its easy to get him down to his true form but after then all his 'buffets' take at least half my energy 113(hit points). I get him to corner me and then i shoot arrows at him but even the best healing potions are too slow. Any tactics/protection spells or special abilities which would help. I killed Sendai and if I kill abygail, does that finish the game???
    thanks

Do a search for Abazigal. You'll find enough threads to help you out.

No. There's still a few more things to do.

Ok i went to search and there wasnt much information which was useful. I need to find out HOW to kill him not after people have killed him (which is usually the case and it tells me that its possible :) ).
I am a high level archer 31/2lvl. I have a firetooth crossbow which is upgraded and i have the gesen bow (which does more damage to abazigal when he's in his first form). Is there any spells i should try and buy or use on my archer (all my other party members are crap coz they die in one of abazigals shots where as i can stand two 100+point shots). So any strategy for a non mage (mages can do alot more with dragons than archers)???
Any help would be useful now!

First of all, don't let him corner you.

There are several items that will protect you from his lightning attacks (boots of grounding, protection from lightning scrolls, potion of insulation). I've found the scrolls as miscellaneous loot from previous battles, but you can get the potion from just about any shopkeeper. There is a merchant in Amkethran (Lazarus, I think) that sells every scroll and potion in the game.

Ranged tactics, are ok, but they will not take him down -- at least not easily. As with any dragon encounter, have your clerics and mages summon any and everything they can to distract the dragon. He's obviously immune to electricity, so you will need to hit him with other types of arrows. Make sure your mages keep his spell protections and resistances lowered (and keep your spell casters away from your fighters). If your fighters have greater whirlwind, use it. If any of your mages can cast time stop, cast it and fire off everything you have (breach, lower resistance, greater malison, etc). If your mage can cast Black Blade of Disaster, cast it and give him a few wacks. A couple of drained levels should take the sting out of his attacks.

    Persistence will pay off.

<edit> I really need to learn to preview posts before posting them :bang:

Thanks. I actually beat him like an hour after posting this. I just slept and got all my monster spells back. I just got GOOD monsters to distract him while i shoot fire arrows. A lot of my monsters died (élite skeletons, deva, golem, haekashars and i guess just the little monster summonings).
So to anyone who tryed to help, cheers, i did take some tactics and some worked some didnt so thanks again!
