Balthazar Bug

    So... everything goes smoothly. I tell Saemon to take a hike. I get the key from the two adventurers. I go in through the Cave of the Dead. Good so far.

    Do a couple of protections, a couple of creature creations. Still good.

    I start talking to Balthazar and my game slows incredibly. At the point in the dialogue where I can say... "But I'm a force for good and justice" I'm only given options 1,2, and 4. Option 3 is missing. What is that, anyone?

    Then the game nearly locks. After left clicking "continue" and/or hitting "enter" a dozen times, the dialogue box will say "<CHARNAME>-" about 6 times, without dialogue after it.

    Sometimes Balthazar will say "...I..."

    Sometimes Balthazar will spontaneously drop dead without my lifting a finger.

    Sometimes the game will lock some more, until I have to do a hard shut down.

    In the "Balthazar spontaneously drops dead" scenario I do go on to the next Deva sequence. But its still frustrating not to play that scene through the way its meant to go.

    I've trying replaying from the last Auto-Save, of coming back to Amkethran. The same thing happened.

    Suggestions anyone?

    And yes, I do have the ToB patch, and I removed the SoA patch.

    I wouldn't know, I'm still trying to get past the damnable Draconis. Of all the creatures in BG, the only ones I have difficulty with are dragons. Give me vampires and liches and beholders and fighters and drow and mind flayers and doomsayers and giants and baalors and demons and elementals; just don't give me them dragons. Firkraag and Thax'Silia etc. are easy but this just sucks! Don't make me laugh with his pathetic human form but that dragon!

    I lower his resistance and magic missiles still seem to not work, he heals infinitely, he goes invisible, he chunks even FIGHTERS in seconds, how does anyone ever kill him? He's immune to imprisonment, even if you remove the "imprison caster" factor.

    When all else fails, a full reinstall usually helps. Just make sure to save all your savegames. And install SoA, ToB, ToB patch, in this order, when you reinstall.
