It's allways 6 for me. If I could have more I probably would have 7 or 8 :) I like the Bioware NPC's, and the only extra NPC I have installed right now is Kivan and Xan. They are really good

I've always played with 6, though I've been thinking about a 4-man party or soloing for a while. Never got around to it though.

I find 4 members to give a very good balance in a party, whilst being far less cumbersome to maneuver than the full 6. I generally find that, in 6-strong parties, I have two pretty much redundant memebers anyway, so 4 allows the ones I really rely upon to gain XP faster. Also, a party like <charname>, Jaheira, Minsc and YoshImoen (tm Felinoid ;) ) covers all bases pretty effectively and isn't too time consuming to assemble.

I like 3 party members. Too many tends to lag the game and requires too much micro managing. But too few means you won't get many NPC interactions; you'll have to run through the game several times to get every combination.

One is all I ever need. I do miss the banter but I am greedy and dont like to share. It must be my "only child" upbringing.

Current team of Six, and the best one I've had so far: Me(Skald), Xan(Mod), Viconia, Jan, Korgan, Yoshimo(to be switched with Sarevok in ToB). Great interaction, and nothing can't be killed. Need more than one tank? I use the Skald, as he got fireshield/s, stoneskin, blur, mirror image, contignecy, and more, and still a decent THAC0. Healing? Potions and Viconia. Traps? Jan and Yoshimo. Arcane casting? Skald, Xan, and Jan. I've yet to be in a battle that takes more than one try, and the only one so far was the Lich in the Gate District, and that was only because I only had my characters at maximum level 9. Both Firkraag and the Shadow Dragon fell easily, and now I've done every single quest(Twisted Rune excepted) before Spellhold, which I just left for.

Four, two fighters, priest and a T/M, also solo when I'm in need action and six when I'm only a team leader (eating nachos & using a fighter)
