Okay, you can't rest, no respite, and Melissan summons fiends and creatures faster than most anyone could despatch, distracting from actually hitting her. In the end I went back to my last save and memorised "Wish" twice at the expense of the rest of the other level 9 spells. Before each fight the party use all the defensive spells...Haste, Stoneskin, etc. During the battle I use all the attack spells, and after all the healing spells...the only way I could get through this was with "Wish" and "Make it so the party seem to have rested and memorise all their spells". It took so many attempts I was on the verge of contemplating...dare I say it....cheating! In the end "Wish" saved me from the heinous act! ;)
Does anyone else have an idea that might have worked for a magic-fighting balanced party, or any particular tactics for how they finished it? :)

Congrats, but I already read about that long before you posted this, so it's not really that much of a secret. Hmm, if you always had one Wish spell in your memory I suppose you'd never have to rest at all, eh?

No lord sarevok i think you can only use a wish option once, then that option no longer becomes available.

You're confusing Wish with the "one-use only" options in the Limited Wish spell.

The options in Wish are random, but may be used repeatedly. You'd want to have a good wisdom, or some Potions of Insight though.... ;)

There isn't really any 'balanced' magical solution, as invariably mages are tempted to load up sequencers with "pierce magic" and "abi-dalzim's horrid wilting" x3 and then win in about 15 seconds, whilst priests will protect the heck out of themselves and then go in bashing with Crom Faeyr or some equally overpowered melee weapon.

If you want a REAL magical challenge, play an ENCHANTER specialist class (my favourite). Why? because they can't use INVOCATION spells, which are usually the offensive spells of the repertoire of any self-respecting wizard or sorcerer.

    And congratulations!!!

    Cheers

Well, there aren't that many great Evocation spells. Magic Missle and Albidzalzims are probably the biggest losses as well as sequencers.

[IMG] That version of the "final battle" is so easy, its joke. You can go in there with no tactics and still beat it. Do yourselves a favour guys and get the "ascention mod". Its more challenging, more fun, has new abilities and has (probably) better endings.

Really? Interesting... I may have to acquire this mod then, because I did find it a little straightforward - no-one even died once, finished it on my first go.

    Thanks for the tip
