Don't know if any of you know this, but I was wondering if half-outsiders have to take Awaken Ancestory before being able to get ancestory feats like the Plane-Touched have to.

It doesn't make a lot of sense for a half-outsider to have the awaken ancestory feat as 99% of the time a half outsider is going to be aware of what their lineage is, but the book Aasimar and Tiefling, A Guide to the Planetouched (covers the half-outsiders as well) doesn't really say one way or another.

Though it may not be appropriate for a half-outsider to get such feats as the innate abilities of a half-outsider increases with level (innate knowledge of their blood) while the feats represent an awaking of the blood of one with some amount of outsider blood.

Nevermind, I'm pretty sure I've figured this one out.

Hmmm? I thought aasimars and tieflings were not necessarily half-outsiders, but had only a portion of divine/infernal blood. Wasn't the offspring of a human and an evil outsider a cornugon or something? Tieflings were supposed to be a fairly watered-down version of that, iirc.

Aasimar and Tieflings are Planetouched meaning they're the children, grandchildren, etc... of half outsiders. The offspring of a Baatezu, Tanar'ri or the third lower plane group (can't remember their names, they're neutral evil) and a mortal is a Cambion while the offspring of a mortal and a celestial is a Nephilim.

I saw somewhere that there is also such a thing a someone who has ancestry from the Inner Planes. What do you call a person with a little bit of elemental in them?

From a pseudo-fantasy-biological point of view, unexplicable :) Are you sure there is such a sub-race? I'd go for a general planetouched, if yes.

Such a person is called a genasi. You can check the FR campaign setting for stats and info... In Forgotten Realms they are "common" in Calimshan, because the land was ruled by genies and Efreets, who then made offspring... That's how they mannaged to get children with mortals...

And Ilmater's suffering, the NE fiends you referred to are called Yugoloths.
