I've made a gnomish illusionist PC, with as opposite school Evocation. Now Gnomes get dancing lights as one of their racial abilities. But that's from the evocation school. Does he lose that ability?

My guess is that as an innate ability, he wouldn't lose it.

@Far, does this mean you're guilty of powergaming?

he still has it. As Beren said, since it's innate, it's not connected to your class.

    Doh, of course. Makes sense.

Beren: Guilty of powergaming? I took Evocation as my opposite school! No powergaming wizard in his right mind would do that! :) Then again, this gnome can hardly fit the label "in his right mind" But seriously, how is checking to see if he can still cast dancing lights powergaming? I mean... it makes lights. That'll surely makes the monsters flee

It will if you play your cards right! Just create a man-shaped glowing light and put it in front of you, that'll send goblinoids running for cover! Unless of course they took that away in 3E...I should look into these things...
