Well, Ofelix, we don't need this finger of death. The paladin should be left alone to understand what he just did... and then he will surely suicide. :D

All right, I'll give it a shot. It's time to take old school Ravenloft style, yo.

Taking Chev's guardian of a girl as a starting point: As both have their Innocence intact, allow them to adventure together. She strives to be a beacon of light etc, he protects her. Eventually, their travels lead to a battle with a vampire. When the young woman, (we'll call her Anna), witnesses the vamp feeding, she takes her Horror save and fails. Loss of Innocence. As the two, Anna and the paladin, Frank battle the creature to protect the town he preys upon, the vamp summons his children. The villagers whom the two heroes are fighting to protect are revealed to in fact be vampires also. The young woman of but a moment ago was the last living human in the village. At this realization, Anna takes and fails her Madness test, and gets Obsession. Although the two manage to survive the battle, Anna's madness grows. She becomes Obsessed with vampires, seing them as all powerful. Frank the Paladin watches her descent, but is unable to do anything to stop or slow it. Eventually Anna takes the final step in her journey into darkness, and allows herself to be embraced, to receive the Kiss from a vampire. Now Frank, the only remaining person he loves after a lifetime of battle a vampire, tthe thing he most hates. Torn between his love for Anna and his vows of paladin-hood, he does the only thing he can, and hunts Anna himself. After many battles, and having witnessed the horrific aftermath of her feedings, he at last corners her. As he drives the stake into her heart, his mind, already torn and shattered by the atrocities that he has witnessed, snaps. One failed Madness check of his own later, our stalwart paladin has become Suicidal. Eventually, he gives in to these thoughts, and, deciding to end his misery, falls upon his sword. The last thing he sees as the darkness closes in, however, is Anna, laughing at his foolishness, delighting in her immortality, and deciding who to feed on next.

Thus our paladin is dead by his own hand, but only after he has killed his adopted daughter. So how about that?

we're talking of a party killing the paladin, so the storyline wouldn't be centered on the pally (else the whole point of the original poster seems pointless).

But ravenloft elements can be drawn upon to get rid of pallies.

[IMG] I'm still with the not-so-creative but undeniably effective method of neutral fighter or barbarian stomping the paladin into the ground.

Of course, you could always shove the paladin's sundered Holy Avenger where the sun does not shine after you're done with him.

A Fireball is always good, but a Scintillating Sphere (Magic of Faerûn) is way better, imagin an Electrical Fireball.
Set him up against a Rust Dragon (Draconomicon).
Or Just if you are a DM the classic: "Some unknown force deals 38d12 vile damage to the paladin."
