I've been playing off and on for about six years now always as a DM. It is only the second campaign though, since each one has had a lot of depth and has taken a few years each. Every other friday night there is always someone who wants to hurt me.

I can't find any people in RL, and no one on the net plays 2E anymore so I'm kinda stranded for games currently. The game I ran took a great bit nosedive into the ground a couple of times and now I've given up on it. Most of the players were power gamers anyway.

I play alot of p&p d&d at roughly once a week. And every month or so, an organization called 'Sarbreenar' sets up or partakes in conventions where roughly 80 of us at a time meet at a designated location in the UK (different each time) and play a Sarbreenar campaign good old fashion p&p style. Also every now and then, we have live interactions where we dress and act in character! Its really kewl! To top it up, all the games we play are linked into one massive campaign. We also have a message boards, where we post messages in the taverns, guilds etc. that we go to. You can get jobs etc. Man its aload of good fun!

My character is a dish washer in this er ... courtesan place :) it must be a good thing! One of my adventuring buddies is also a bouncer at the same place ;) Yeah yeah, we're weird but its really good fun!

Refresh my memory, whats power gaming?

I don't play D&D, but I'd very much like to. It's just that there's no one to play it with! As far as I know (belive me, i've asked lots of people!) I'm the only one even slightly interested in D&D in the town I live in. :(

I play D&D and I love it very much. I'm the DM of my D&D group. I won't be the DM for much longer however, I'm resigning, I just don't have enough time to plan things in advance. The only problem is that non of the people I play with (they all have plenty of spare time) want to take over the role as DM.

I've just started playing D&D. Seriously, last weekend was my first session. We have a pretty experienced DM; he's using his own campaign and world. I really enjoy PnP, my creativity can run loose.

I'm afraid I have aspirations to Dungeon Master. I really want to control what the players run into and think I could provide an excellent storyline.

    Power gaming = bad
    Power gaming = munchikin
Power gaming = person with a roll over 100
Power gaming = person who can't roleplay and only cares about the power of their character
Power gaming = very, very bad

We played 1st ed. during our college days, and I was the DM. We had a campaign going early post college just as the 2nd ed. hit the stores. Then our group broke up (people moved). But now we're getting it started again. At first glance, I am not impressed with the 3rd ed. It just seems like changes were made to simply sell more books.
I hate power gaming munchkins. They NEVER last long in my campaigns. :D

Hehe. So that means you all hate me? Really, does it matter that much?

Power gaming is exactly what it says. When someone takes a character, picks all the powerful feats, rolls powerful abilities, uses all the useful skills, and gets all these powerful items and weapons to make them invincible. Basically it's like a character level 5 taking on a CR 10 because he's that powerful.

I started playing p&p online over a year ago, until my brother snooped through my room ( :flaming: ) and found the PHB... Well, he got the MM and DMG so he could organize a campaign between his friends, and I joined. We played for about 6 - 8 months before finally everyone was playing (except me) magic instead of p&p.
