The rapier is very nice indeed. Taken with the Improved Critical Feat, it scores a critical threat on a roll of 15-20. in the hands of a backstabbing theif, this could be very lethal.

There's something good about double weapons - dire flails, double axes and swords. Since it is considered that while using a double weapon, your off-hand weapon is light, Ambidexterity and Two-Weapon Fighting + Exotic double weapon give the same punch as two medium weapons, but with less attack penalty.

The only issue that remains is if one's willing to spend a feat (which is especially actual for non-fighters) on exotic weapon, and if it fits the character.

[IMG] i'd say rapier...for its xtra chance on an critical hit...dice 'n' slice!!

  10. [IMG] Ive seen only one person saying anything about daggers, and none about short swords. What is wrong with you people? I know..most of you like to be have high critical chances, and high damage factors. Personally I like Dirks(for those of you who dont know what they are, a dirk is a double-edged weapon, about a foot to a foot in a half in length). Kukris are very cool too.

[edit] Oh..and wrist crossbows are the best. (I play a thief why lug around a bow?) [/edit]

my favorite weapon is either the rapier or the spiked chain... just too much fun tripping people over and over, especially is you have another fighter class standing nearby to make AoO...

As a wizard (who prefers conjoration) all that I need is a quortorstaff and maybe a sling. "Beware of he who appears week, he will be the one to get you."

in terms of melee, I like the greatsword, if my character is able to use melee weapons. The greatsword does alot of damagek, and since it uses 2d6, it will do an average of 7 unmodified damage (the longsword is a good more affordable weapon with a good critical range). Otherwise, if my character cannot use martial weapons, a morningstar is handy.
For ranged attacks, you cannot beat the heavy croossbow, its bolts do 1d10 damage, have a 19-20 critical threat range and have a 120 feet range increment, although for higher strength scores and at a larger price range, the composite longbow and its large damage range can be a good choice.
