This'll be fun. A lot will turn on how you interpret brilliant and this could be great debate on both interpretation and picks.

Here's 10 in no particular order:

Goethe, Wittgenstein, Leibnitz, Aristotle, Pascal, Newton, Arnauld, Grotius, Bacon, Hume, J.S. Mills.

I really think it is tough for someone to not agree that if Goethe, Wittgenstein, and Leibnitz aren't top 10 they're damn close but the others...

  3. Einstein, Aristottle, J.R.R. Tolkein, Slipknot, Tool, Linkin Park, Susan B. Anthony(I think), Cleopatra, Elizabeth 1 and Boo. ;):p

I keep re-reading this list to find my name .... hmmm ... I'm not seeing it anywhere. Very disappointing that people don't recognize my genius.

    Einstein
    Aristotle
    Aristophanes
    Herodotus
    John Locke
    Saint Thomas
    Moses
    Socrates

The Grecians for obvious reasons, Saint Thomas for his religious insights, John Locke for his studies in human desire and need, the scientists for their contributions to the modern world, and Moses because he wrote Genesis and created Mosaic law.

I'd say Tal, but I don't think that brown nosing will get me anywhere.

[IMG] Of course i like the warlords :D
But not just any warlord they must be cool to. Like Genghis Khan isnt cool he was just a thug i like my generals with a bit of finesse and alot of success. Alexander is no 1 because he was the idol of the all the other war leaders on my list and he did councqer the whole known world before he died at age 33

Robert Lee doesnt fit here cause i dont like him several reasons first: he didnt win, Napoleon didnt win either but he concqered a whole nation with nothing but his charisma. Second a small and isolated conflict like the civil war aint cool. My generals must have illusions of grandeus and see themselves as just slighlty under god in prowess. Lee was just a common soldier imho

    well joacquin,

if you like generals then as far as brilliant ones go what about Robert E. Lee? He has one of the highest recorded IQ's in history (one of the 50 or 100 smartest blokes ever according to the test which has been keeping track since the 1500's.) Not only that he pulled off some of the most daring and brilliant military strategies recorded because, well, he had to. He couldn't just build up his forces to twice the strength of the others and then crush them like Napolean liked to (wisely) because he was outmanned and outgunned.

Oh yeah, also only person in history to make it through West Point without a single demerit.
