My brother (who is too lazy to register himself to SP) has a problem with the buttons after installing the game. Whenever he presses on a button at the bottom of the screen (stealth, spells, etc) it either doesn't work, or the button is pressed twice. He has installed the latest official patch from Bioware and the Sorcerer's Place Fixpack v1.2 (SoA only!), but those didn't help.

I'm sure he'd appreciate any help.

Tell him to do a clean boot of his computer, and do not run anything before starting the game. This includes Windows Explorer. See if that helps.

I know this post is over a week old, but it might help if you could provide more information. What is his computers processer/RAM, and does the computer tend to run slowly? Also, if he has a wireless mouse, or an optical mouse with low batteries, this could be the problem.

You could also check out Bioware's tech support page at:

    or email them at support@bioware.com

He has a Pentium 4, 2.44 GHz processor, with 512 MB DDR RAM. A 128 MB ASUS G-force 4 video card, with enough space on his HD to install BG2 a hundred times. His computer never runs slow and, he has an optical mouse, but the batteries are not the cause of this problem.

This problem is very likely a glitch in the game, maybe the game is not compatible with a piece of his hardware. When I bought a computer a few years ago, I got BG1 with it on DVD. When I ran it on that computer, it had the same problem, but I never paid attention to it, because I also had the game on CD-ROM.

There is nothing about this problem on the Bioware site, which my brother or I could find. I will suggest to my brother to mail Bioware, maybe this is a known problem, but does not appear often enough for them to spend time in it.

    Any help is still welcome.
