This is so weird, I was playing as a Ranger dualed to a Cleric at level 2 and his rep went below 6 because I killed Shandalar. He lost his Ranger class but he's now a MULTI-classed Fallen Ranger/Cleric! I tested and he gains EXP for both jobs now!!! I don't know if any new cool things will come out of this, but I'm not sure if that happened to anyone here yet.

Yes, he still had them, although he lost his Ranger profiencies.

If you lost all your Ranger proficiencies, then I think it would be a waste to still gain experience for that class. After all, Ranger spells are not that good compared to Cleric spells... IMO, that is.

Yes, but in this case, he gains access to all Divine spells, better THAC0 progression, and more HP on average as well.

By Ranger proficiencies, do you mean the Two-Weapon Fighting or merely bladed weaponry?

I think what happened is that he will lose proficiency in all bladed weapons, same as how a dual-classed Fighter -> Cleric with earlier proficiencies in say...Long Sword loses them all after dual-classing.

I bet you retain your 2 pips in two weapon proficiency...

It's BG1 so no "two weapon" proficiency.

I wonder what would happen if this character were imported into BG2, and the Ranger class were to be re-awarded (there's a way to become "unfallen" in BG2). Would he just become a multiclassed C/R?

    Iiiiinteresting...

So is this a good or bad thing for you? :p

Do you have TuTu? It may be related to TuTu, maybe. :hmm:

You can't be "fallen" in BG2 (or Tutu), if you fall you become a plain "fighter" you don't get the "fallen ranger" or "fallen paladin" label on the character screen.

If that were true, Caradhras, then howcome you can regain your status with the stronghold quests?

I meant that you can't get "Fallen Paladin" or "Fallen Ranger" actually written on your character screen, you only get "Fighter" in BG2 whereas in BG1 you had the word "Fallen" on your screen and that looked really cool.

Actually I got the "Fallen Stalker" written on my character's screen after choosing one of the evil paths in hell.

Not sure what happens with Paladins and the other Rangers though.

Now that's interesting! I never played a Stalker PC (Valygar) but I never managed to get the "fallen" thing when I played a pally. I have to give it another try.

By Ranger proficiencies I meant I had 2 stars in Blunt and Missile. After he became a Fallen Ranger, I only ended up with the 1 star in Blunt and Missile. But I figure if I'm just going to use Blunt and Missile, I'll still be able to get the 2 stars in each because I still have 2 coming to me.

By the way, I don't think the NPCs can become Fallen, in BG1 anyway. I tried to get Minsc to fall so I could get him 4 stars in Long Swords, but he didn't fall.

I think a fallen paladin in BG2 can actually dual class like a fighter, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Fallen paladins can't dual class in that sequel which I won't mention.
