hey! well, Im back, Ill prolly be posting occaisionally again, but anywayz, Ive been trying to get back on to the sorcerers chat, but my school network has somehow blocked all IRC (as well as MSN messenger, morpheus, and countless online games). I was wondering if anyone could help me try to get on to IRC, either a way to get around the block or a different server that I can connect to IRC through. I am trying to connect through either mIRC or Trillian. I am pretty good with my comp and would not be below advanced things like registry editing etc.
    thanks

[IMG] have you tried QuickChat? It works for some people who are blocked over everything else.

ah hah, here I run in to another problem, when I go to the quickchat page, the java applet appears as nothing more than an empty box with a small picture of a box (with a square, circle and triangle in it) in the upper left hand corner. this happens with ANY java applet I see, if anyone could help me with this I would be extremely gratefull.

    Try with this:

    In Internet Explorer go to:
    Tools
    Options
    Security
    Custom Level

    Then check Java-Java Permisions-High Securtty and Scripting-Active Scripting-Scripting of Java Applets-Enabled

If that is already selected go to:
    Tools
    Options
    Advanced

In here check the box for Java VM-JIT Compiler for virtual machine enabled.

If there is another Java "surround" checked, then uncheck it (for example, Java Sun-Java 2 v1.4.0).

    And then restart the machine!

[IMG] Well i counldnt get through the firewall at work either, till Spyboy showed me how. Try this, open IE, click tools, then internet options, connections tab, then lan settings. If your school uses a proxy it will show it here. Write down the information and open mirc. You can put the information for the proxy into the options, connect, firewall in mirc. Hope it works.

damn......I really had my hopes up there for a second. unfortunately, in the place you said to look, there were no proxy settings. however, I think this is because my computer automatically detects the internet here. it is possible that the proxy settings are there one someone elses comp. Ill go check and see what happens.

[IMG] Arrrrg. How Could I have missed this Thread!

We have the EXACTLY THE SAME problem. and it just came after the server move. Now I am almost sure it can't be something in my computer. Something is wrong somewhere else??
    :wail:
And Mirc doesn't give me any slack unless I install SocksCap, which I can't find anywhere in a downloadable version.
    :( :sosad:
