[IMG] Have you ever tried to make it through the game with a charisma of about 7or8? If so how did it go?

    It went fine.

The PC doesn't need a high Charisma.

No it only affects store prices, and outcome for solved quests. Still it's one of the best stats in BG

I've never experienced it either, but only because I never have a low CHA. This is a hero we're talking about here.

I had NPC refuse me based on my reputation, not my CHA. I played through with a CHA of 3 and could pick anyone up as long as my CHA was between 9-12. Once you start going above 12, the evil NPC may not join you and if you go below 9 the good NPC may not join you.

I never noticed my reputation when this happened to me, that may have been the problem. I pay more attention next time.

It's a mixed bag, I think. If you've got high CHA, you can convince anyone regardless of rep (unless they would leave you if they were already in the party). And if you've got an appropriate rep, CHA doesn't matter.

Hey, nothing wrong with a good* anti-hero!

I think that CHA can matter for some dialog choices - iirc, if you tick Imoen off in Candlekeep she won't join you if you have low CHA, but will do so otherwise (this is 2nd hand info, btw, so I'm not sure of the veracity of this). Generally, though, I find that reputation is more often the deciding factor.

The game isn't as fun with a low CHA
