Hey all, I was just wondering how many people at this site own cell phones, so I hope I get alot of votes on this one.

ATTENTION: For those of you who do not own a cell phone, what are your reasons? They are to expensive, you don't want one, you feel you have no use for one etc... Post your reasons.

I don't have got a cell phone, and I don't want one. They are completly useless for a pupil like me. Most of my friends who own a cell phone only play with it, but I prefer my GBA

Yes I got my own cell phone, but I don't use it that often. Mostly my brother who use it.

 

Well, I did, up until recently. Phone fell out of my pocket while I was on my bike. When I drove back the road to see if it was there, I could only find the front of it.

So I'm getting a new one somewhere this week. I lost all my telephonenumbers though

 

I've got my own cellphone. My third actually. Almost everyone in Norway got cellphones. In my class with 50 pupils in it, everyone has a cellphone

 

Unfortunatly, yes. It was a present from my parents because the calls from my friends got on their nerves. It didn't work out, though, because calling a cell phone is much more expensive.
So I do not use it. It is lying in my room an collects dust.

But these things are a like a plague. Every person under 16 seems to own a cellphone and uses it to send short messages half of the day.

 

Well, I am on my fourth phone in two years. My firast one was an ancient piece of junk I got because the parental units wanted to keep in contactt while I was on a music festival. Then, I got a Nokia 3210 that drowned,... it rusted from the inside, I have NO idea how that happened. Then, I got a Nokia 3310 that I managed to lose while partying in a hotel nightclub in Tallin.... I am SURE I can recall the sound it made when it fell but that's it... my latest one is a Nokia 3410 (I shoulod've taken a 3510 but... dumb me...) that I like VEEERY much. I use only my cell phone, land lines are SO not my stle. I als play games, but only when I am VERY bored. the damn phone is the only contact between me ansd my parents most of the time...

I have a cell phone (Motorola T180) which is the perfect phone for me. It may be a bit older and bigger, but that makes it perfect for hitting the ground with high speed. I actually drop my phone frequently and it is still working perfectly. I even left it in my pocket one time (by accident), and washed it with my pants. The water was dripping out of it, and it had to dry for a day, but it still works.

 

Velcro and I each have phones. Mine was issued by my office, so I can be pestered by the moronic, insecure executives whenever they need someone to wipe their bottoms...

Actually, we rely on our cells for almost all telephone communication, to the point that we're considering dropping the house line when we move. The only kicker is that we can't decide between DSL with satellite TV, and digital cable with internet.

 

I have me a red Siemens A55, chosen because A55 looks like ASS.

It's fairly vital to my social life, which therefore means I could live without it. Just.

 

I've one that I carry around in my briefcase, to and from work, just in case of an accident or other urgent need. I generally use it less than 4 minutes/month.

 

I own (read: inherited) a hugeass grey Motorola brick. It possesses intelligence of its own at the level of 16 per 3E rules like a beholder, and is a strange sub-species of, surprise, beholder. As you can probably guess by its race, it's Lawful Evil in alignment, the lawful part being reliant on a sophisticated scheme of power shortages resulting from employing the special ability Improved Power Drain of the Corrupt that appears random and accidental to those ignorant of its nature. Lawful Evil as it is, it still isn't classified as a straightforward unholy artifact and doesn not inflict visible damage to creatures of good alignment, but it possibly diminishes in power in the presence of a holy symbol. Due to exceptional hardiness it has a whooping damage reduction of 10/- and 5/- elemental resistance.

 

If i was told seven years ago that one day I would have a cell phone, my answer would be "no way". Although, one day the engine of my car refused to do its duty in the middle of nowhere and this was the first time that I appreciated cell phone. Today, I am addicted to it.

 

Since I have a cable modem for internet (and can't get DSL where I live), it's cheaper for me to have a cell than a land-line.

I dont have a cell and considering I live on campus the land line is pretty accessible. Anyway the charges for cell usage are damn steep as compared to landlines here in India.

 

Yes I have a cell phone but I rarely use it. I will turn it on when I am away from the office visiting a client but other than that I usually leave it off unless I have a reason to make/expect a specific call.

The one thing that does annoy me is that while I am trying to work, at a client's, the senior partner and his WIFE will often call me on my cell phone for help with their computer or PDA problems. They are both in their 70s and it will often take half an hour to find out what exactly the problem is and explain how to fix it.

Trying to fix computer problems without being able to see the computer is annoying enough but doing so while I am trying to do my real job and having to pay for the airtime just royally ticks me off.
