Hey guys. I was just wondering if there was any sort of 'bard' armour that lets you cast spells while having it on in BG1. I've got DsotSC installed if that helps? Thanks in advance.

mmm... nothing that I know of. I remember casting spells with a chainmail on a bard(it's possible).

All armours in the unmodded game prevent arcane spell casting.

If you're playing Tutu, then you could cheat in an Elven Chain mail from BGII. Also if you're playing Tutu, then you can use the BG1 NPC Project mod from http://www.gibberlings3.net - Garrick's quest from that gives you armour which permits casting as a reward. :)

Alternatively a tactic I often use is to combine Bracers of Defense and a lot of Mirror Image spells. ;)

I don't have Tutu I only have DsotSC, so does that mean there isn't, if so would there be any one willing to make an item mod that included a suit of 'bard' armour, or elven chain mail/magical elven chain mail?

What of Drizzt's? I think a F/M/T can use it at least.

That's true, Drizzt's armor should work. Unfortunatly it involves serious cheese tactics to kill the elf. Should you want to I certainly got some :D

Drizzt's armour allows thieves to use their skills, it still prevents wizardly spellcasting.

I can still cast spells with any chainmail. I recently tried Mithral Chain+4 and I can still cast spells.

In that case you must have some kind of mod installed as in the original there are no exceptions to the rule. This is what makes bards such a difficult class to play until the sequel, though like Echon said, it's still possible to use thieving skills with Drizzt's chain +4. Unfortunately, this is the best it gets.
