    Does installing the expansions add something to the begening of the game?

    I'm not very far in and plan on getting the expansions this week and wondering if I should restart or not.

    It adds in features (such as new feats and prestige classes) that become available as soon as you install. You don't need to restart your game, unless you wanted to take a new feat at a lower level, or you wanted to redesign your character in some way to take advantage.
