I've played through Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II a few times, but I haven't touched Neverwinter Nights yet, although I do plan to buy it. I read that you can't import characters over, which is fine, I guess I'll just make the same old characters and start from the bottom leveling wise, but I was wondering: do any of the NPCs such as Minsc, Imoen, etc, make appearances in Neverwinter Nights? Imoen's epilogue in BG:II mentions her starting a thieves guild that stretches all the way to Neverwinter.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Matt

[IMG] Nope, there's no connection whatsoever to anything happening in the BG games that you would see in NWN.

You also can't import characters from BG2 into Neverwinter Nights.

No no NPC's from the baldur's gate series, altough there are some quite good NPC's. Unfortunatly you can only get one NPC at a time or two with one of the expansion packs. Forget which.

I can't say I've ever seen a common BG1-BG2-ID1-ID2 name in NWN, let alone joinable NPCs

Though you can't import a character, is their anything like Shadow Keeper that might allow you to edit a NWN Character or Save game to manually recreate a character from one of the unrelated games?

In NWN, in Luskan during Chapter 2, there is a gnome whose name is Erb Jansen. He never said he was related to Jan Jansen from BG2, but I always assumed they were related. Both of them have a turnip fetish too.

Ha, they very well might have been related. Jan did have a lot of relatives.

Yeah, I think there's a few of these connections, even if they were subconcious decisions by the staff of the project.

Mutamin.... Mutamin, the owner of Green Griffon Inn, is the name of a crazy gnomish(?) mage in
BG I. He is at the area east of the Beregost Temple. He has two Basilisk's for pets, and attacks you on sight.
This is the only 'name connection' I've ever seen (though I'm certain the two guys have nothing in common).

Besides some book mentions, I think.

They reuse several names from the BG series but never do the characters bare any similarities. I can't remember exactly what ones I've noticed but I do recall a mage named Wanev in chapter 2 of the OC. Was Wanev not also in the asylum in BG2?
There were some others I noticed but I can't recall.

The surname Windspear from BG2 reappears in SoU but is carried by an elf and not a human noble, so I guess it's just an accident or limited pool of ideas rather than anything intended.

Well, there also were a Windspear on the second floor of the burning wizard (thinks it was there) in the old BGI game...
Think they re-used this surname several times.
