Just bought this game for 39 euros and it is great. After some experiments with the diffrent classes in the game I decided to go for an Elf Sorcerer19/Fighter1 equiped with a longbow.

    The questions are these:

    Which henchmen should he hire?

What meele weapon should he have? Quarterstaff?

    Which feats should he get?

    Which familiar should he have?

    Puh, many questions.

Henchmen: I would choose a fighting type henchmen, he can help you most. I personally prefer the monk over the barbar.

Meele Weapon: I would choose a staff with many spells on it, you will need it at the end of the game ...

Familiar: I would coose a pixie, because she can open chests, that's not that important, because you can blow up chests with fireballs, but she can destroy traps, and that's quite usefull later.

Here are my two cents' worth: :)

    Henchman: Barbarian, Monk or Cleric.

Melee Weapon: I wouldn't go with quarterstaff. If you take the Fighter level early on, you get all the martial weapons. The longsword you can have the smith make for you in Chapter 1 from a +1 longsword and a diamond is very good. I'd go for that. You can still use the magical abilities in staves; just keep them in your inventory and drag them onto your toolbar.

Feats: Spell Focus/Greater Spell Focus: Evocation are must-haves. Dodge can be useful, as can Mobility. Arcane Defence and Spell Penetration are also good.

    Familiar: The Pixie.

My two cents here. I am not certain you will even need the one level of fighter. It will add a few hitpoints to your total and marginally improve your attack bonus, both of which can be useful early on, but don't bother taking it for the weapons. Elves are already proficient with bows and longswords.
