Does anyone keep on restarting. I do. I've gone through 15 characters now and i've only ever gone up till the beginning of CHP2. Made an oath to stay has a Human male Rogue with handaxe now.
    I've been a:

    Elven Ranger
    Human fighter
    Elven Ranger
    Human fighter
    Halfling Rogue
    Elven Rogue
    Human rogue
    Human rogue
    Halfling fighter
    Human Cleric
    Human mage
    human mage
    Dwarven fighter
    Half-orc fighter
    Human Rogue

If i change again i want to be banned from sorcerers and have my copy of the game put in a blender.

Anyone else have this problem. I am REALLY starting to hate CHP1 now...

  2. Erm... Well actually, I had to restart my elven ranger 3 times. First time I sold all my stuff so I could buy my two-handed sword only to find out I couldn't use it. 2nd time I hadn't known you could change the skills and feats... And now I'm on my 3rd ranger, with customized feats and skills. I'm still in Prelude I think.

[IMG] I haven't re-started several times, but I do have 3 separate games going...My favorite one is my human paladin - he's currently level 12 or 13. I also have a level 3 halfling rogue, and I have one human character that I'm doing a lot of mixing in levels...Just to see how it plays...

My paladin character is by far my favorite, but I do seem to be missing a lot of the smaller quests...I find myself leaving behind many doors that cannot be opened without the proper key. A key that I'm having difficulty finding apparently!

Say why do you keep restarting? If a character has faults then it is A) your fault and B) adds a twist to the game

[IMG] I've changed once - my first character was a human Necromancer who managed to get killed by the first goblin he encountered in the prelude... The little creep got a critical hit. So much for the dreadful Necromancer, eh...
Now I'm a rogue who's kicking some serious butt so far. Will probably start another game to try another spellcaster.

I've restarted once. My first character was a gnome bard, and I got pretty far with him in Chapter 1. But most bard skills don't translate well from the P&P game to NWN, at least in the single player game. The 'big' fights were also becoming increasingly difficult and frustrating. So I restarted with a human monk - and he's working out much better :) I'll save the bard for a multiplayer game, or a persistent world.

I've restarted some... 20 times, even though I've only had the game for a day so far. There are just so many cool options and variations...

I *am* actually restarting a new game, my moron pally was kinda fun ... for a while but because of his poorly ballanced stats and some mistakes I made during character creation I eventually decided to make a new char, another human paladin, atm lvl-4 pally and lvl-2 fighter.
Maybe I'll later add 2 or 3 cleric levels (domains: sun and healing), for a few extra spells and undead turning. Maybe another fighter level too, for better discipline. Most significant difference to my older pally is a lower str and an int of 12, allowing more skills and much better interaction.

However, I haven't really stopped playing the other pally: Despite all his weaknesses and drawbacks he is a very impressive melee char, lvl-8 pally and lvl-4 fighter iirc. AC somewhere beyond 30 and a terrible punch :) And I have played him wide into chapter two ...

I have also played a halfling rogue and a human bard up to lvl-3, ready to rumble but I didn't start them yet.

Argh! I caught the restart syndrome!

I've been tinkering with stats, feats, skills and weapon usage ... mostly just for fun.

My first was a sword & shield paladin ... I was happy until I saw my wife's ranger dual weilding Long Sword/Short Sword ... so I started playing.

So far I've started and deleted approx. 6 characters (that's 3 per day with only 1.5 hours game time to play each day) .... so I pretty much need to make up my mind and go.

So do I stick with my paladin who uses the greatsword, or the ranger with Sword & Axe ... I love the fun kinds of descisions! :good:

    I do.

Let's see. Some are for tests, I rarely continue any of them.

    In order of...most apprence:

    Dante, an Elven Sorcerer
    Rand, a human Fighter
Harrow, a human Fighter/Rogue (trying to create a ninja)
Yoshimo (YES! I KNOW!), a human monk
Jan Jansen (Yes, yes...), a Mage/Rogue
Nicky Wetter (trust me, it was generated), a human Fighter.
Crag Hack (I know...stop it...), a human barbarin.
    Burog, a half-orc barbarin.
    Tarader Vessarel, a human Necromancer.
    Derena Ellowen, an elven rogue.

And I hate Pavel. Trust me.

[IMG] Heh. I'd say that with all this restarting and recreating, this game is going to be popular for a *long* time :) Now whenever I get the itch for a new character or at least a new combination of skills & feats, I write it down or make the character, and save them for another module/ adventure. That's the beauty of this game - every type character you want to play can be used (eventually) in an entirely different adventure, module or campaign!

    Yay! I'm not alone :p

I have 10+ lvl 3 characters who have only waded into the beginning of chapter 1 ;)

My current character is a NE ranger(1)/enchanter(6), and by far the easiest to play of all my chars ( I did not make a monk/fighter though ) :)

I seem to be drawn to character creation every time I start the game. I always create them, but never actually play with the new chars, instead I keep playing with my elven wizard/cleric.

My wife made me make a new character because she didn't like may tattoos

btw ... do you know if you can "customize" tattoos with the toolset. My elf ranger would look wicked with a blue cresent moon tattooed over his left eye.

AFAIK, the only thing you can do with tatoos in the toolset is determine whether the character has them, and change the colour (two tone max). It may be possible (by creating new 3D models) to include more tatoos on a model, if you re-write the .mdl (I think that's the extension) files and modify the textures, but that's a guess.

Ive taken vows to prevent my restart nature. It happened a lot when I was still in the mainstream of playing BGII, I just couldn't decide.

Thankfully, I managed to suppress any urges to restart, and have completed it first time yesterday with my Paladin Avalon Aethur. Im now going through it with a lawful neutral half-orc monk, humerously named Welf "the monk" (trust me, it actully works, especially when you announce yourself)

After this game, I plan to got lawful evil sorcerer, and then....who knows, tomorrow is another new day full of opportunities..... and other poetic stuff like that.

I've put this in another post as well, but so far I've been

Human fighter (just kept pushing recommended)
    human monk
    Halfling rogue/ranger
    human ranger
    human paladin
    halforc barbarian
    human sorceror
    gnome wizard (female) illusionist
    human cleric (female)

My problem is that I get through CH2, then start wondering what it would be like to be a ____________ I can't stop doing it, it's like Luskan has some sort of spell on me, I NEVER like my characters in that city. Oh well, I guess we'll see how it goes with the cleric now.

    Thanks,
    Atheris

    Hello again!

I've restarted one more time, although my rogue is still active. I wanted to see how a pure fighter would work. I put every feat and skill point on his swordplay - he is fearsome in melee with his two longswords, but not much good for anything else. That's the way it SHOULD be with a specialised character I think. Anyway, gonna try a necromancer/cleric now...
