At the moment I am playing with my lovely Ranger Elf character. What I'd really like is a bit of spice to him with a prestige class. I was thinking either Weapon Master or Shadowddancer <I use both stealth and melee weapons regualiriyl>. Has anyone else tried something better. Please, not arcane archer though...

Well, I tried the combo with Shadowdancer and that worked really great, they complement each other greatly. The Weapon Master is cool too, but is better suited for fighters taking Weapon Specialisation, since that adds even more damage in a critical. The only other possibilities I see are either Blackguard (need to be evil for this) or Champion of Torm (need to be non-evil). The Blackguard is a good choice, especially if you go melee, and the Champion of Torm is great too, but you lose half of the benefits if you don't have good cha. With the Blackguard you have this prob too but it's less important. But if you indeed use stealth alot, something that might also help are levels in Assassin, but you need to be evil to do that. You can also combine it and make a Ranger/Assassin and add one level of Shadowdancer for the Hide in Plain Sight (though this is more powergamish).

Conclusion, go with Shadowdancer or Assassin or even both.

Hmmm. Ranger/Assasin is probably the closest you get to bounty hunter in this game. Exactly what tactics are good with the Assasin? What are his abilities?

Well, for starters he gets a backstab bonus that also can paralyse the target. Besides that he gets some spells as special abilities : Ghostly Visage, Darkness, Invisibility and Improved Invisibility. He can also apply poison on weapons without the chance of it backfiring.

Basic strategy would be to sneak up on enemy, and hope they get paralised so you can get in some more sneak attacks. You can also use the (improved) invisibility spells to hide again during combat, though the Hide in Plain Sight of the Shadowdancer might help you more with that.
