Honest to God.... You know what ruined this game. The editor, it tottaly took away from the single player, the whole thing with the layout of chapters into mods, it felt sloppy. Every thing in the chapters was available in the mods. no unique environments, if the lets say took u to the underdark in chapter whatever, they wwould probably use a cave set, that is hard to understand... does anyone know what i mean how in BG2 they had unique backgrounds in someplaces that u never see in the whole game but in NWN they had would have the same background only a different color... I was so pumped up for NWN and the game crushed me... i was in denial for a week, now i realise i hate it... Its just so awful... Im sorry but.. ITS AWFUL... sorry that was out of line but... its 1:30 im going to bed...

That's unfortunately one of the problems with Bio overreaching with this project. It had to be so many things that it just couldn't live up to everything people were expecting and everything Bioware hyped. Running in several different directions at once with this game, they really didn't have time for extras that would have added alot, like extra tilesets. Plus they needed to keep everything sorta generic so it could be usable by everyone with their mods as well. It's a shame really, because they built everything up to be the be all and end all of rpgs, and right now it's really sputtering. I've gone back and forth on my opinions of the game and it's future over the past few weeks. But I think the game still has a big potential, and hopefully within a few months, Bio and the community can do something. I think Bio knows they messed up in certain areas, and I think they realize there's enough money still to be made off of NWN that they will fix it. Hopefully we'll be seeing some actual new content for the game released by Bio. I'm still willing to give them a chance.

Well I can see your point and sympathise a bit. However, I think you're being a bit harsh. I don't think the game was ever intended to be a BG2 replacement. We were all warned a long time in advance when they started quoting 50-100 playing hours as opposed to 400 and also the hints that you wouldn't have a big party to control. Of course it would have been nice if the single player game was as good but the focus of NWN was always on trying to recreate Pen and Paper D&D with your mates but on the PC. Looked at like that, the lack of variety is no problem as pen & paper players have been relying on their imagination for years.

Anyway, I'm hoping that Bioware will start to make extra tile sets and monsters available or release a decent add-on pack. Even if they don't, the mod community is already turning out some decent tile sets. It's also pretty amazing what you can achieve with the standard set and some imagination. I tried a Star Trek demo last night that needs no extra tiles, skins or models. With only what is in the original game they managed some decent Klingons, Starfleet officers and phasers.

The quality of the modules being released by fans is also sometimes very good. I'm playing something at the moment that (so far) is better than the NWN main game. Take a look here for some modules and follow the links to ignvaults where they allow players to score them of ten:

    http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/NWN/index_modules.php

The one I'm laying is A Tragedy in Tragidor (Full version)

My biggest concern is how well realised the DM side of the game is. I'm struggling to convinve my normal D&D group to try it out and am worried that I will have to rely on single player only. And before anyone says try AORTA, I have and the buggers don't want me :( Besides I'd prefer to play in a small group just like pen and paper.....

Like many people have said, its not based around the single player, I think they mentioned that in some of the earliest reviews, correct me if I am wrong.
