I'm currently playing the premium mods that came with the diamond edition. Kingmaker to be exact. Was just wondering, are the Craft Armor/Weapon skills worth it? Are there lots of opportunity to create these things?

I personally don't find it to be so. Sure, there are lots of opportunities to create lousy steel swords, shields, etc. and maybe even a mithril whatnot a few times, but IMHO your skill points are better invested elsewhere.

It's fun perhaps, wielding a big bad sword that you've created from scratch yourself and had enchantments put on it, but that's about it.

They also increase your chances of succeding when modifying the looks of your weapons or armour.

For a wizard, for instance, 4 points or more in Craft Weapon caused skeletons to drop bones for wands in the OC, SoU and HotU, if your wizard was the one who killed the skeleton. I don't really know how this works in other modules.

Not in my opinion, since they (I believe) decrease your experience level. The tradeoff isn't worth it for a story-driven player like me, since I don't want to go and find a lot of extra monsters to fight.
