I was thinking something like this: Paladin (leader) gnome f/t, dwarf cleric/ftr, druid/ftr, bard, ftr 3(dual class) mage.

I figure you can handle all the thieving, even with armor on (just take it off to disarm the traps you detect), with the gnome. the wizard gets 3 levels of fighter for three stars in longbow. the bard helps with arrows too when he isnt singing.

this is a good mix of races and classes, and you can even make a character or two evil, so that you can use all of the items.

    what do you think?

btw, can I dualclass my fighter into a specialty mage, or just a generalist with heart of winter installed?

specialist, bard can take care of teh missing spells anyways.

You'd might consider a bit less characters to get more XP, especially considering the amount of multiclassing. cutting down to 4-5 will give quite a bum in the XP.

Personally, I love multiclasses, and I might imitate your party (kinda) krunch. I love Gnome Fighter/Illusionists, and I love multiclassed characters, so I might make something similar, but sub in one of these guys instead of your Fighter->Mage. :D

    My Fighter/Mage/Thief :)

Now that I've managed to get my hands on a Elven Chainmail and learned how to cast Stoneskin there isn't much that can prevent my character from unleashing his spells :D

Cone of Cold owns and I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on a Malavon's Rage scroll

for a full party of 6 a palidan, a fighter/thief/mage, ranger/cleric, bard, extra charcter of whimsy, and most importantly a fighter/druid. With all the resitance Items you can find plus shapeshift water elemental you can make yourself invulnerable to all physical attacks (just make sure you cast protection from elecricity if the druid needs to fight someone who uses electricity)!

additional firepower on the back-side in the face of another shortbow is something invaluable. Also, he/she will be able to hide in shadows and storm out with hurling and damaging spells. She/he will be able also to hit the enemies, with her shortbow, will have a shortsword and will have better armor class, although will multiclass a bit slower, than ordinary mage. nevertheless the HP for the mage/thief - 100 at the end versus the 70 of the normal mage is something not to underestimate.

    The most powerful party(with HoW):

    HE F/M/C 30/30/30
    HE F/M/C 30/30/30
    HE F/M/C 30/30/30
    HE F/M/T 30/30/30
    Human Ranger29/Cleric30
    Human Fighter29/Druid30

You just need to earn 135,000,000 XP to get this far.
It might get a little boring because of their power.

    The best party (without HoW):

HE Bard 18 (The best party should be able to cast mage spells on the highest possible spellevel)
HE or human Cleric 16 (The best party should be able to cast cleric spells on the highest possible spellevel)
    Human Fighter9/Druid14
    Human Fighter9/Conjurer14
    HE F/M/T
    Human Ranger8/Cleric15

No problem at all, since you can kill respawning monsters.
