I don't think the door to the puzzle room itself is locked, just hidden until a character is near it. It is the entrance in the puzzle room that leads underground that can be opened up by the arm (after you solve the puzzle that is).

    Hmmmmm.

The hammer you need to find is on the right side of the screen. It should just flip right down, and the passage open up. Then you complete the *next* part of the task, and go back to that same hammer and flip it up.

Then there will be a new area for you to enter.

If the hammer is saying it's locked, then you've got a bug in your game.

(gosh, I didn't realize IwD was so buggy!!!)(

You don't need to touch the hammer yet.

Find the hidden door and open it (it's at the top of the room). This leads to a big room; solve the puzzle here and you'll get a message about hearing a grinding noise or something similar upstairs. Go back upstairs, flip the hammer, go back downstairs and you'll see the new staircase.

Oh, that's right. Whew boy, it's been a while.

Door, then puzzle, then hammer, then staircase. And the hammer will be down, which gives you the clue to put it back upright.

I was thinking, in that room, there is something else toward the upper left-hand part of the screen. With one of the other statues. A frobbable hammer, or something.

    Maybe I'm just imagining it...

What Sparhawk the Pandion said! :thumb:
Just did this last night...

Seems everyone is playing at the same pace!

You have to step on the floor tiles in the order from outermost to innermost. Look at the symbols on the round disk on the floor before you enter the puzzle room to see which symbols you need to step on. Walk around the ouside to avoid the traps that can't be disarmed.
