You can put custom portraits in the game? I take it you have to make your own Portraits folder then. I always thought they were the same as the BG Large and small portraits (not medium)

They are. I actually took my custom portraits from BG2, and used them in IWD. Anyway, the manual says the exact sizes for the portraits.

The below is quoted directly from the BG2 manual:

IWD and BG2 portraits have different sizes. I make my own portraits for both games so I have a good idea what I'm typing about.

Rastor, you have the correct size for the Large portraits, (110x170, 24-bit), but the incorrect size for the small portrait. The small portrait in IWD, should be 36x58, 8-bit (check the IWD manual and you'll see what I'm getting at).

Example: If you were to use a portrait that came with IWD (the small that is) in BG2 you would see the difference. When using a small portrait from IWD in BG2 it looks as if your character is permently injured due to the fact that the portrait is shorter.

Yes, I did check the IWD manual, and you are correct about the small size portraits. I never found a problem with using the portraits that you can download here from the BG2 page in IWD. Hmm, maybe I just don't have an eye for detail. Sorry about this.
