[IMG] O.K. the opinions are wide and varying on the best Mage spell. I've had a number of discussions regarding the best spell-casting class. Soooo...what about the best Clerical spell? Non-Healing of course.

[IMG] So far I've liked Blade Barrier and Alicorn Lance...Glyph of Warding is fun...If you know there is a fight coming.

[IMG] at low level a bless, entangle or prayer are great spells. At higher level blade barrier can't be beat.

No one would dispute the sheer power a high level mage can summon but, which class would win a "one on one" battle if both combatants were, say, 12th level? Why?

[IMG] Interesting question....I've always thought that as a wizard goes up in level, he/she becomes more dangerous...

I think the cleric may have a shot...but I'd put my money on the mage...The only hope the cleric has is disrupting the mage with slingshots, then maybe move in with one of the melee weapon spells like flaming blade, etc...

It all depends on how much time the mage has to cast. If the mage can get the spells off - the cleric is dead!

I agree. At REALLY high levels, the Mage rules. But at 10th to 12th level, the Clerical spells are quite effective and in some cases, more effective than what a Mage of equal level can cast. The Holy man merely has to get the wrinkled old mage within weapon range and he's toast.

A couple of hold spells should do the trick. :D
